That kinda reminds me, a few months ago, about a mile from my house there's a sheriff pickup just parked in the road with its lights on, not on the shoulder or anything and no other vehicles present. Narrow two lane road in a no passing zone. There's a guy in front of me and we both just stop behind him, unsure of what the hell this guy wants us to do.

About a minute goes by and he gets out of his truck all huffing mad and waving at us to pass Hey retard, if you wanted us to go around, just put your damn hand out the window and wave us by.

That would be extremely unusual around my AO, here they always make a big deal of checkpoints with multiple cops, the cones, the signs etc, it looks like car wash line when they do it. a couple cops will go to 4 cars windows in a row while the line is piling up and do 3-4 at once, wave them by and then "process" another 4 cars.

Not that I get pulled over a lot and I live in the sticks but yeah dome light on, driver's window down, sit still while waiting wait for them to come up to the vehicle. Wallet out while looking for place to pull over, pull into place, in park, visor down DL, reg, insurance on dash, light on probably by the time they’re pulled in, putting it in park, taking off seat belt.

I think this is an attempt of a humble brag thread of OP trying to tell us he looks like some bad ass hillbilly biker from the 80s.

I hope to never live in an area where cops are allowed to set up checkpoints to stop people for nothing at all.

Two observations on that case, besides a super-majority of SCOTUS telling us our rights are superseded by gov't claims to be 'trying to do something here'.

1. Every court in Michigan ruled it a 4A violation (well, technically SCOTUS did too, but they also said 4A violations are a good thing) and Attorney General Kelley kept appealing it.

2. As soon as Kelley finally won on 4A grounds, MI's legislature promptly passed a law banning the practice. So all that time and money was spent and the end result was fucking over the residents of every state but the state Kelley was trying to fuck.

I witnessed a accident last summer while stopped at a red light, car hit a motorcycle, i along with a couple other people sat with the guy on the bike, waited on the police to come, once they got there the officer asked for my license and looked at my plate, I was like WTF?? I have in other threads also commented that these types of stops were reviewed by SCOTUS.
Who basically said they are unconstitutional but since it’s for the greater good we’ll allow them.

I have to legally stop and show DL, registration, and insurance here.
I didn’t think I was driving through a stop.

If I was asked for a search I would have said I don’t consent.
If they told me I had to wait for a dog I would have said-

The letter of the law, at least as far as a courtroom is concerned, seems to say that here they can have a dog sniff around during the stop, but that you don’t have to wait for one to arrive and extend the stop if not already there.
