Weird how a regular guy with minimal LEO contact, works every day, pays bills, provides for his family just ups and shoots a cop at a stoplight.

Unvetted info from Instagram, but the major biographical details line up with what has been released officially.
Raymundo Duran, the man arrested on suspicion of randomly shooting a deputy in the back in West Covina yesterday, is a known gang member w/ a violent criminal history, including a manslaughter conviction for stabbing a coworker to death in 2001, a conviction for felony evading in 2021, a conviction for felon in possession of a firearm in 2022, and a DUI arrest last October. He also has a handful of other misdemeanor arrests. The deputy was on his motorcycle sitting at a red light yesterday when he was shot in his back, with his bullet proof vest catching the round and saving his life. In 1769, the Spanish Portolá expedition became the first Europeans to see inland portions of Alta California. On July 30, the party camped on the east side of the San Gabriel River, in today's unincorporated area of Bassett. Father Juan Crespi wrote in his diary that, the next day, they had to build a bridge (Spanish "puente") to cross the miry San Gabriel River. |
