I like split.

I did too.

I liked some of the ones that I'm sure people hated.

I liked the village.

I liked signs

Liked unbreakable, split, and glass (it's better than marvel at least)

Didn't like the mermaid one or whatever it was.  Didn't see old.  The last airbender was cancer.

One of my daughters told me years ago that he needs to make a movie of nothing but all of his trailers. The trailers are much more intense than the movies.

Like I said, I just couldn't finish.  I kind of didn't care once the guy started climbing walls and eating girls.  Maybe I missed a cool plot twist after that?  The little kid split personality was an exact copy of Jim Norton's Chip Chipperson character.

Split is better enjoyed when you realize it's part of a trilogy with Glass and Unbreakable.

Unbreakable is better than Signs, in my opinion.  I think a lot of people forget that's an MNS movie.

I don't know if split had an actual twist.  Maybe other than the "powers" being real.

When did all movies start sucking? They've all sucked for years. Is it just because I'm getting older or do they really suck? Disney. Marvel. They effing suck. Even my GF thinks they do and she's their demographic. The whole industry needs a hard reset.

Probably once they became a national phenomenon that could rake in billions on a single movie but at the same time cost a quarter of a billion to make.

Once that much money was involved.  Suits couldn't let passion projects and things like integrity slow down the money machines.

The novel the movie was based on had two dads.  He just stuck to the source material.

Also, kind of tired of trailers giving so much of the movie away. Feel like it would have been a better movie experience not seeing that trailer first.

Most movies have always sucked.  You only remember and rewatch the good ones.

In any given year, there are only 1-3 decent movies that are released.  Sometimes there's one that's really good.  The rest are shit.

Direct-to-streaming has changed the game a bit too.

The Sixth Sense was brilliant. So was Unbreakable. I didn’t mind Signs. The Village had its moments even if the last third was a letdown. The Visit was a pleasant surprise.

Every other movie he’s directed has ranged from mild dogshit to pure dogshit.

I liked Split (and Unbreakable), but didn't care for Glass.

Split I liked not just for the story, but for the acting. It was fascinating watching the actor cycle through all the different personalities. That takes true skill.

We watched all three a few weeks ago. I've seen Split a few times, and am always amazed at Mcavoy in that role.

I'm hit/miss on M Night movies. Some I genuinely like, others I didn't care for much.

Will probably see this one also.

Sixth Sense was good.

I love Unbreakable and have watched it several times.

Thought The Village was okay.  Certainly didn’t hate it.

I didn’t finish Lady in the Water.  Got maybe half to 2/3 of the way through it and decided I didn’t care what happened and turned it off.

Never saw any others.

I'll usually watch his movies at least once.

Almost all were...well OK, but could have been a lot better with a few changes.

A few I really enjoyed.

The standards are so low with the recycled shit from hollywood, his movies get me to watch them because they are at least different.

Knock at the cabin surprised me.

This is true.

And as others have posted already, it is better than the recent garbage from the marvel and Star Wars franchises.

So the movie will make it clear Josh Hartnet is the axe killer guy all the way through but the twist will be the axe killer made him go to the concert or he’d kill his younger brother Or something and the real axe killer is the daughter.

I’ll watch it, he makes interesting movies if not always good.

No issues with his movies here.

He gets a lot of flak, but at least his work is original, not "movie from the 80s remade with a diverse cast".

Eh

Something about the random concession worker knowing all the details and then having to be the exposition dump to lay out the plot seems kinda stupid to me.

Many of them have a great premise and a good start but then stagnant until the finish with a forced ending.

I watched “Old” the other night. He could have done SOOOOOOO much more with the plot and the characters but kept it superficial.

ETA- “Signs” is another one like that.

I saw it in a theater.  I watched it again at home to see the clues I missed the first time around.  There were many, and Shyalamamamanan hid them pretty well.

Too late.
You're right, it sucked.  So many people praised James McAvoy's performance, but I found it pretty amateurish.
And the ending was ridiculous.  "Nature of the soul, something, something, blah, blah, blah..."

I agree with your opinions.
The twist at end of 'The Visit' was not unexpected, but still pretty good.
The two kids did a good job in that movie.  So did the actors who played the grandparents.

Didn't click. I've seen only one M. Knight Chaka-Khan movie. (Unbreakable)

And I barely remember it. lol. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how I even saw it to begin with. Maybe it was on regular TV back when I watched TV?

The last good movie that I can remember was No Country For Old Men. That's all I got for this thread. lol.

Maybe he’s not.

And have you ever seen Columbo?  They always showed who the killer was at the beginning.  I don’t think it’s supposed to be a mystery.  Its focus is how the killer deals with being trapped.  It’s a psychological thriller, not a murder mystery.
