I have a couple safes that use 9v batteries to power the electronic dials, and noticed in one of the manuals from Cannon/Stack On they recommend alkaline batteries....other than cost, any reason to use an alkaline over a lithium?

He asked about 9V batteries. They don't make 9V eneloops.

Assuming you are talking only about non-rechargeable batteries, then AFAIK lithium should be fine.

Rechargeables are a different animal, with nominal voltages for "9V" batteries varying all over the place depending not only on chemistry, but the specific implementation of a given battery model. You cannot necessarily use a particular rechargeable 9V for a given application due to this.

Lithium over alkaline every single time!
Li costs more but it's more than worth the cost increase!
I don't even buy alkaline anymore.

With QC these days, I’m not putting anything that can leak in any of my stuff, even if it just a cheap remote.

I'll have to find my copy of the manual, but there was a specific reason Stack On recommended alkalines.

At this point I dont use alkalines in anything that has much value or where they will be installed for a long time.  Those things get lithium.  A safe would fall into that category.

I use alkaline 9v's in my smoke detectors, and that's only because they get replaced on a regular basis.
My 25yr-old safe has a mechanical combo lock so no batteries to worry about.
Everything else gets Eneloops or lithiums.
