I'm convinced that dog owners cannot hear their own dog yapping or barking.
I live in a nice wooded subdivision out in the county. Two kinds of people move here: 1. People who want to let their barking dog run free, stay outside, and bark 24/7 and 2. People who want to sit outside in their yard and enjoy the peace and quiet. Invariably such people always buy houses next to each other. |

I am not a fan of useless yappers - but hard workers, maybe. I might someday get a dog that's main purpose in life is killing rats.

Some good looking little dogs posted here. I bet most of them are pretty well behaved too.
That's not always the case tho. A lot of owners of little dogs let them get away with poor behavior because it's "cute". I don't care for a dog that jumps up, licks, barks, scratches, dribbles piss ... but a lot of little dogs behave that way because their owners allow it. That's what I don't get. |

Just about any dog is better than a human. My parents had a Pomeranian that barked like crazy, and pissed itself when I'd show up. No person has ever pissed themselves bc they were excited to see me. I loved that dog.

Whenever we see one while I'm out walking my GSD/Husky mix they start barking at her. I tell them "She has toys bigger than you..."
I leave the part off about "...and she would be glad to pick you up and shake you until YOUR squeaker stops working too!" |

I was always a fan of big dogs and still am but my wife rescued a couple of Chihuahuas over the years. Living out in the country, I have come to appreciate their superb hearing compared to the other dogs.
Those little rat dogs have huge ears compared to the rest of their body and they act as sound magnifiers. They are my own four-legged early warning system. We can be sitting in the house and they will be asleep and suddenly go full alert, then run for the front door barking and it will be a vehicle going down our country road that is still 3/4's of a mile away. |

lol…going to the store this morning…all you can hear in the parking lot is a yappy little dog yapping away.
As I head for the door I see the little bastard…he’s SITTING on the open window of the passenger door like a little Mexican boss…🤣🤣🤣 just sitting there relaxed as fuck with one leg hanging down the door. I wish I snapped a pic…he was a chihuahua of course. |

Dog looks like he has an IV drip from the espresso machine.... way to high strung for my old ass in suburbia. When my Rottweilers bark there is something to look into. I would shoot myself with a yapper. This is my 3rd generation with the breed. As long as you keep them lean they are good watchdogs. My neighbors with their little yappers can have them. They yap all day. |
