Comparison of lume between a Citizen diver and a Seiko Turtle re-issue.

Seiko wins for brightness and longevity.  But I do sort of like the contrasting green/blue lume on the Citizen of the bezel vs the dial.

In my limited experience Seiko is brighter out of the gate but a few hours later they are pretty equal

Good lume is one of the first things I look for in a watch.

It should be bright enough to guide a ship into port.no exceptions.

Have seiko SNE498 w/ LumiBrite and recently purchased a Alkin full lume dial with a bluey Super-LumiNova BGW9.

The seiko walks all over the alkin within three hours. I struggle to read the alkin by about 3-4 am, even fully charged with a light around 10pm.

Passively, with no charge the seiko is easily legible straight through to the morning.

Have a Laco with Superluminova C3. It’s decent. It’s still legible in the am, but it’s not nearly as bright as long as the seiko’s lumibrite.

No proof, just my observations over the last few years of parenthood.

Very n8ce watches. I have the same Citizen. Whenever I go outside for even a minute and come back inside at work, my coworkers notice the brightness of it. Pretty much all of my Citizens do this. I'm a fan!

Compared to the Seiko, the Citizens lume is like the moon on a cloudy night.

Now, that Seiko lume…a few minutes in daylight and I’m getting sunburn from it.

That's pretty cool.
I'm looking for a nice Seiko diver. What do you recommend? Say 1500-2k range. Maybe more, if I like it.

Similar experience. My Seikos have always had very long lasting lume.

Recently picked up an SSK001. Wore it throughout the day. Wore it to bed just to make sure it stayed wound the first day. I could read it until morning.

Lume Wars was always a fun video series on JOMW. Some brands have really pushed the envelope on brightness and longevity.

Lume Wars@ Just One More Watch

The Last Lume Wars? Episode XI - Tudor, Helm, Casio, Signum etc

Lume Wars Is Back! Can The Signum Be Beaten?

[Edited to add:]
This lume is pretty nuts
Nothing can touch this watch when it comes to lume - Wise Hitman SE

My "Spork" has great lume, but the Lum-tec is by far the best.

Thanks,I'll look it up. Seiko was what got me into "good" watches back in 1990.
