What are you using them for? What is the best brand?

They work great for removing paint from your bumper after backing into another car in a parking lot, in Minecraft.

They will make cleaning a bathtub so much faster.

Like if you have any soap scum, it just falls right off using a Magic Eraser.

Pre-clean the inside of your car or truck windows with one, it gets rid of the oily film from out-gassing plastic better than glass cleaner does. You still have to use glass cleaner afterwards but you don't get as many streaks.

Buy them for pennies on amazon.  Melamine sponge.

Great for removing dirt and smudge marks from walls if you have egg shell or semi-gloss paint.

Be careful on your fiberglass boat too.

Hands down the best trick I ever learned from Chris Fix.  I am obsessive about keeping the inside of my windshield clean.  Also works great to clean the outside before a coat of rainx.

If you aren't aware, it's basically a very fine sand paper.  IE: be somewhat careful with them or at least know what you are actually doing.

Using them to remove scuffs off your wall paint is one thing because eventually you are going to repaint and you are unlikely to use them on the same spot many times.  Using them over and over and over on say your bathtub though...you are sanding away the thing you want gone and so you are also risking sanding away some of the surface finish.

If the sides of the soles of your athletic shoes are white, they work pretty good at cleaning them.

Tricks? Use it damp, not wet. They work much better and are more forgiving.

This guy knows what's up^^^
Or hit ebay for big chunks of melamine foam and cut it to your desired size.
Much, much, much cheaper than buying Mr Clean product.

The finish on your tub is probably a lot harder than melamine.  It's only when you're working on soft surfaces (paint, etc.), that you have to be careful.

Cut the Magic Eraser to size and place between the baffles of an airgun (if the airgun has baffles) to further reduce noise.

I’m scared to use them on the still-presentable gelcoat, but they have made a significant improvement on the grubby looking 18 year old vinyl upholstery in my boat.

They clean pasta gravy off my kitchen backsplash better than anything I have tried.

They are also good at keeping white medical equipment........racist.

Yep, this. However, the Brand name ones I'm pretty sure are infused or something with some borax and/or other cleaning solution. That said though, the bare sponges and so much cheaper and do 97% the same job.

The Mr Clean brand will remove the soot off your woodstove glass and will not scratch.
Ive used them for years.
Dishwashing liquid, a touch of vinegar and tap water.

We've used it for several years. I am often amazed how well they work on a variety of surfaces.

Most resent amazement- my wife was able to remove old info on a common plastic for sale sign.  Magic eraser removed 2019 Ford F-150 written in black Sharpie. It did so with very little effort. The for sale sign now says 2016 Forest River XLR Nitro.  Anyone looking for a toy hauler?

Use them judiciously.  They work because, at the microscopic level, they have a very jagged surface of sharp peaks that basically scrape out all the dirt.  It's all mechanical - no soap/solvents/etc.  So if you rub too vigorously, you'll "sand" the surface or even take paint off the walls.  Knock yourself out with metals, ceramics, etc.  But be careful on wood, drywall and similar soft surfaces.

This.   Use them wet.   If I recall, they're basically the same abrasiveness as 3000 grit sandpaper.

It's nothing but sandpaper on a sponge. I had a buddy used it on the upholstery of his boat. I said dude you realize that's just sandpaper and you're taking off the surface of your vinyl seats. Sure enough that's what happened

Stick to the normal yellow sponges.

I use to see the cleaners for apartment complexes use them to clean the ovens and make them look brand new.  They were always super disgusting from renters.

They work great for bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning....etc.
Aldi has good ones.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, clean your wife's stainless steel appliances with one. AMHIK

As has been stated above, they have their place, but they are basically sandpaper.

You are not cleaning anything, you are sanding it off.

I have never used them on the outside. Hull cleaner works like magic anyway.

For the vinyl, absolutely. I will use Star-Brite Mildew Remover, Spray Nine, Ultimate Vinyl, whatever. It will look clean, but the magic erasers get the rest of it like nothing.

Big bulk boxes of knockoffs are a ton cheaper than the Mr Clean ones on Amazon.  Just make sure they’re not super-low-quality ones.  Search for melamine sponges.

I use them to clean my boat.  My house cleaner uses them all the time.

Our boat sits in our fresh water canal all summer and gets run 3-5 days a week on average. Great for erasing a weeks worth of slime and black two stroke grime off my water line.
