I think it would be much easier to just name the sequels that didn't suck.
- Aliens (and that's it) - Dune 2 - Tron 2 - Terminator 2 (added during edit) - Godfather 2 (though 1 could have stood on its own) Leaving out stuff like Bond since there have been some pretty big misses over the years in addition to a few nuggets of good. Technically stuff like the Jack Ryan movies could be considered sequels...some of those are obviously pretty good. LoTR trilogy was pretty good, though the Two Towers isn't really a sequel. |

Disagree about Tron 2. I don't know if you consider it a sequel, but Captain America: the Winter Soldier is better than the first one. The Empire Strikes Back was a very good movie. Top Gun: Maverick is better than the first one. The Dark Knight was great. Bride of Frankenstein. Blade II Toy Story 2 and 3 Superman 2 The Road Warrior and Mad Max: Fury Road Star Trek II and IV. LotR the Two Towers and Return of the King Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Blade Runner 2049 There are probably others. |
