He's a lot like me, so it simplifies things. AR, handgun, shotgun?
What would you give your kid upon graduation? Also he wants to join the Army, I was in the Army and I don't want that for him. |

Graduating high school?
At 18, AR or shotgun...a nice over&under bird gun maybe? What are his interests? |

My son is very interested in history. I went around to gun shops and pawn shops and
bought him a nice condition US Krag rifle made in 98 or 99 for his high school graduation. If he likes history and military stuff I would suggest an M1 Garand of y’all don’t have one. |

I just have to go with what God would want. |

Get him a nicer upper and assemble a lower together unless you've already done that. Buy him a nice knife and flashlight then. I use my light more than I use a knife and I use my knife, usually a SAK, a lot. I even use it as a dinner knife.

Those Henry rifles look like nice graduation gifts.
Maybe a revolver as well in a matching caliber. |

A Marlin 39A in really nice condition. If the budget is larger, an HK91. It is a rifle you do not see every day, and will increase in value.

Have him pick something out at the gun store that’s reasonable. No reason to buy the kid an SR-15 or Sandhawk, but a quality AR or 1911 would be a sweet gift for an 18 year old who likes that stuff.

According to the majority here you give him a kick in the ass as he goes out the door. Then you change the locks

A watch
ETA, what I got was an all expenses paid trip to college (I was very fortunate that pops did pretty well for himself, and that he valued a quality education. At the end of 6 years, the total cost for everything, tuition, room and board, was just north of $40k. And that was even out of state tuition), and a ride to campus, where I was promptly kicked out of the car. Turtle Behind The Wheel by FredMan, on Flickr Seiko SNE573 by FredMan, on Flickr |

Mine was told he could choose ONE long gun of mine, with a couple excluded.
He took my JM Marlin 45-70 guide gun, solid choice I think. Then a couple years later, he traded that into a PTR .308. Not a real deal HK, but it’s a helluva shooter. Not my first choice, but he is happy. That’s what gifting is! |
