Congrats OP.

My grandparents had one on their house. After they passed, it’s one of the things that I got to take. It sits on my mantle and has been there for the last 7-8 years. Hopefully someday I’ll put it on the outside of my house.

did you finance the eagle ?

just kidding.

I haven't had a house payment in 12 years. Profit enough off last house sale to pay cash for house I'm in now. Part of me thinks I should have invested it all but it feels good not to owe anyone anything.
Congrats !

If you drive through the countryside you would be surprised how many eagles you see on houses. The wife and I like to look out for them on a nice country drive.

That's a nice place to have paid off.  Would the sale not be enough to offset the build costs in HI?

Not real hard to explain .......... pay off your mortgage and put up an eagle. It became popular post WWII when folks started paying off their mortgages.

All my grandparents had eagles hung on their houses somewhere.

Fun Fact: 50% of Mississippi and West Virginia homeowners are eagle eligible

Most.liekly,we.will.sell the land and consider other options.  We'll still retire to.Hawaii but we just won't be able to build on the dream lot we planned on.

Bummer. Would have thought that the housing market in your area might have kept pace.

First Congrats!   Second, thanks for reminding me about the Eagle!
Prior to Covid, I was shopping for one and couldn't find exactly what I wanted.  Cov happened, I just pigeon holed the idea, but it needs to be resurrected.
