New pair of Danner Super Rainforest showed up yesterday. 5.375 pounds of US made quality boot.
Old pair made it 2 years before loss of traction. Not bad for daily welding, mechanicing and all the mud and chemicals involved with drilling. First day wearing them and really didn’t notice I was wearing new boots.. (not always the case with Danner) Love a quality American made product. Attached File Attached File Bonus President Flump got a new box fort with oh so crinkly shoe paper… Attached File |

Nice.
But you should have the old ones rebuilt/resoled. |

I wear Ft Lewis’s everyday at work have for 9yrs or so on my second set first set got a recraft once and tore precluding another rebuild. Guess I have been on second set now two years. I have an extra set for spares and some acadias that someone else got and didn’t like. Always seem to hold up great offer good traction and support.

my last pair of Danner Patrols had a convex sole that never flattened out, so my ankles were constantly wobbling. $300 waste.

Danner used to have a Fathers Day sale every year. That’s when I order my boots from them. Their slip on snake boots are what I wear a lot. Waterproof and comfortable.

I had a pair of Elk Hunters that I loved. Wore the soles put, was going to have them redone and they got thrown out.
I wasn’t pleased. Now they are $400 a pair |

I've bought 2 or 3 pairs that were $100 "blems" from the factory store in Portland - rough out tan Ft Lewis's and a couple pairs rough out tan Acadia's. I wore out the "air bob" soles of a pair of Canadians way faster than I thought they should have and got them resoled with a standard vibram sole, that'd be my biggest issue I suppose. I've got a pair of Nicks Custom's that I need to get resoled, its going to run $200. That's 50% of what I paid of 2008 for the boots, 30% of what they sell the same boots for now. I don't know if its the hipsters that have driven the prices up on quality US made durable work wear and footwear or just inflation. |

Get your foot measured and buy the right width. I wear an EE, Danner makes an EEEE . I have a pair of their EEEEs and they're slightly wider then the EEs. No clue if they have anything wider. https://support.danner.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010899593-How-do-I-determine-my-boot-size |

They take longer to break in as well. Thicker leather & such. Get the boot dressing they sell as it helps in the break in, & keeps the leather supple. |

I used to wear the Danner Recon. I think that’s what they’re called. All leather. I had just bought a new pair before getting promoted to a suit job. Still have them, but they’re just used for snow blowing and outdoor range trips.
Love Danner. I have done a resole before, but yours might have been past that with the shell. |

I go through a pair of Danner quarries a year . Wish I could have them rebuilt, but it's kinda hard when you wear the toe out before the sole .
