A couple .308s to get me through.  Start em off at 800yds and when they get too close the AP4 can still shoot through things

Remington 870 Express. Synthetic police/tactical model forend. Wilson extension. Choate mk.6 stock. Nordic magazine clamp.

AR-15 build. Spike's Tactical lower receiver. Used upper, I forget what company. Scope mounted on angle-rails, so as to remain solid, yet not in the way of the BUIS (no removing necessary, which means one less step, and no loss of zero). The scope is a cheapo I had sitting around, will eventually replace it. ACE ARFX skeleton buttstock. Spec-Ops Master-Blaster sling. Streamlight TLR-1. YHM aggressive compensator.  Waiting on a Tango Down Battlegrip, but Del-Ton refuses to admit that my order probably won't be filled.

Nice vest, I was thinking about getting one in black and swapping out the cross-draw for more mag pouches for the sidearm. (I have a drop down holster) That set-up along with my Peacekeeper Rapid Deployment Pack I should come up to about 9 mags for the AR and 9 mags for the sidearm. I think that should be good enough

I have the same vest in OD green. It's very nicely constructed and only 60 bucks with the cross draw holster OR 2 extra AR pouches (comes with both).
It's a bit short if you're taller as I am. It rides up quite a bit on the back. I have mine attached to a pistol belt on my Tru-spec pants so its less prone to come up. Bad thing is I can't bend over quite as well.

What was awesome about the vest was that it came with a three magazine pouch that replaces the cross draw and holds very securely in there.

Agreed on all parts. The vest is a great value for the money, but I'm 6'1, and it does feel a little short.

Sweet, So it should work well for me, I'm only 5'7" I guess I'll have to make a stop by the BX/PX on base before I head home so I can grab a camel-bak bladder (not sure if all these vests are made by the same company but the one I'm looking at has internal pockets for "maps and a hydration bladder")

UTG makes most of them. they run $40 direct from them or a good bit more from crappier than dung(CTD / cheaper than dirt).

lets not kid ourselves, they are crap when it comes down to it. at least compared to the top tier major gear manufacturers and not even as good as crap when compared to custom made gear. that said i'm a broke bitch and have a number of these utg vests in OD, that i keep around loaded down with loaded mags and gear and ready to grab and go(one set up for my AR-10, several for AR-15s, and one for an AK) or pass on as handouts if need be. hard to beat for the money i will certainly concede, but not "high quality". i've run one i had a while back in digital marine woodland for a while nothing hard but it held up ok under going to the range and a couple light hiking and camping trips, but no hard use.

here are a few things i've done to make them more optimal for me:

* remove the stupid cross draw holster it is CRAP no questions asked(replace with the double magpouch and hand stich it in place.
* buy a blade tech or serpa(even one of the cheap serpa sportsters) don't skimp on a good holster, when you need your handgun you'll want to be able to draw it quick, not fuck with a fastex buckle. leave better quality holster in place on the supplied pistol belt(the belt is one of the better feature of the vest imho).
* take a razor blade and carefully cut open the "sniper shoulder(what a POS that feature is)" and remove the rubber tubing. again if you need to shoulder your weapon you ant a solid cheek weld no to fumble and get your shit tnagled in/on that crap. if you can remove the whole shoulder pad, i wish thay just left that whole feature of the vest(and included 6 stitch down pouches instead of that stupid cross draw holster).
* the horizontal mag pouches are ok but not mounted that way on the belt remove them and stick them on a pack or something to hold a flashlight or whatever.
* hand stitch or use a sewing machine to add a line of stitching on the pistol belt hangers(they tend to run real loose and when the belt isn't buckled will slip right trough and this is obnoxious. adding the stiching tightens the whole rig up and keeps everyhting in place much better.
or even better spend an extra $40 for an ATS warbelt, this is my primary setup and i use the supplied pistol belt from one of the vests with it. i run a 3 mag open top M4 shingle, a triple pistol mag pouch,  an emt pouch, waiting on a g17 w/ light bladetech holster. this in conjunction with one of these cheapy vest(with would allow me about all the ammo i would want to stagger with,  i could(though way not practical) load out with 6 pistol mags(+ 1 in the g17) and 15 AR mags(+ 1 in M4, SBR once tax stamp arrives).
* the "radio" pouch sucks for that use, but will hold a mil "H" bandage and a cheapy tourni-quick tourniquet.
* most importantly carefully cut away the "UTG" logo. everyone from gearwhores to "professional" airsofters will laugh at you if you are seen sporting that logo.

for the money and if your life probably isn't going to depend on it it is an ok piece of kit espicially if for hobby or for handout, YMMV.

link to thier page with the OD vest below...

http://u-t-g.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_28&products_id=47

i about a year ago i ordered 6 of them and got a bit of a run around as they are apparently now shipping without the replacement double mag pouch which can now be purchased seperatelly. however the website and prices haven't changed so i'd call them directly and try to hold them to the website advertisement(they honored it for me).

ETA: you can cut a piece of large female velcro and sew to a seat cover, then attach the crap pistol holster to it, it does make for a more comfortable / convienent way to carry in your vehicle imho. the holster works about as well in you ride as it does when attached to a beds frame / rail to keep your pistol close and yet secured at night while sleeping. they fastex buckle isn't a huge detractor in these instances as you can simply not use the retention strap / buckle...

for the money and if your life probably isn't going to depend on it it is an ok piece of kit espicially if for hobby or for handout, YMMV.

link to thier page with the OD vest below...

i about a year ago i ordered 6 of them and got a bit of a run around as they are apparently now shipping without the replacement double mag pouch which can now be purchased seperatelly. however the website and prices haven't changed so i'd call them directly and try to hold them to the website advertisement(they honored it for me).

K.

Good points, and I agree. The vest is cool for dicking around, but I wouldn't trust my life with it. Needless to say, I don't have a ton of money sticking around since I'm a college student and haven't  done significant research on tac vests, but based on most of the philosophy of use literature I've read, what you've said is dead on. (And major LOL at cutting off the UTG logo. When I purchased it, there was no brand information online, but when I saw it, I knew I might as well have had 'noob' stamped on my forehead).

Been here a while, just found this page.  These are some pretty old photos; there have been some upgrades and additions.  One of these days I'll do a new photo shoot.

Untill then, it's time to play...

That is a very nice sword you have pictured below that Mossberg shotgun.

What kind is it and where did you buy it?

Thanks
Jason
