I used to LOVE em, but since I've read so many stories about folks getting really sick from them in the news, I've all but stopped ordering them anywhere. I really miss them.

Raw with Tabasco was always my favorite until chargrilled became an option.

It's funny to think that a really long time ago, many of the working class and I guess even some considered poor really almost lived off oysters. Back then, even though local sanitation was poor to non-existent, I guess the greater ocean was probably cleaner overall, and I'll bet that most folks had more robust immune systems in their guts.

Rob Ford: "I've got more than enough to eat at home." FF to 33 seconds. He's got it right. |

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that as a grown man I've never tried oysters, but that looks disgusting. I took gd's advice on soft shell crab and wanted to puke, so I'm like 50/50 on oyster.

I just had some really expensive raw oysters - someone else ordered them and insisted.
It reminded me that I hate raw oysters. They are totally wasted on me. |

I don’t understand…
If it’s nature’s perfect food, what is it necessary to cover them with a bunch of spicy stuff? |

That way you can say you’ve eaten oysters. Same can be said for crabs and lobsters. Two incredible foods. I do draw the line on chitlins. I don’t understand… If it’s nature’s perfect food, what is it necessary to cover them with a bunch of spicy stuff? It’s not. Do you put salt and pepper on your steak? |

Those oysters look a bit slimy and off color I'd check them for Pseudomonas before swallowing.

Oysters with Mignonette sauce are absolutely fabulous!
1/2 cup minced shallots (about 2 1/2 ounces) 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup unseasoned rice vinegar (if using seasoned rice vinegar, omit the sugar and salt) 1/8 teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt 1 1/4 teaspoon finely crushed white peppercorns (do not use pre-ground or powdered white pepper) Marinate the oysters in the Mignonette sauce for a couple of hours then slurp them down! |

The best tasting, most agreeably textured food to come out of the water, for me, is shark, steamed.

I don't see any half shells, did you just buy a bucket of shucked from the store?

Raw with a horseradish is my favorite. Oysters are a weird food for me, I love them raw and hate them cooked.

This hotel always serves bacon wrapped shrimp... |

OP if you ever get up to southern RI you would love this place. I don't do oysters myself, but my wife is a huge fan. But they have plenty of other seafood available. Cool story about the owner, if you have the time to check it out.

Neighbor bought a box of 100 that were harvested in Canada. They were probably the saltiest I have ever eaten. They were also clear as could be and quite delicious.

I never have tried the worcestershire sauce in it,
Depending on my mood my ketchup to horseraAddish ratio is 3:1 to sometimes 1:1, a pink sauce. . A few dashes of whatever hot sauce and lemon juice. |

Eggs and avocados.
Eggs and avocados are natures best super foods. Oysters are fucking gross. |
|
Love 'em.
Interesting factoid. When doing a tour of Annapolis, on the boat ride they discussed the Chesapeake and oysters. Before they were over-fished, they were so plentiful in the Chesapeake that they filtered the entire Chesapeake daily. Granted the average depth of the Chesapeake is less than 10', but I can only imagine how clean that water was |

A Guamanian friend introduced me to raw oysters with Tabasco and a cold beer. Delicious.
