This.  Written as a citizen-friendly one-volume version of the author's definitive four-volume series.  I have recommended this to many.  Loved it.

Washington's Crossing by David Hackett Fischer

One of my favorite books about GW.  An excellent read and was hard to put down.  It basically covers the first year of the Revolutionary War, focusing on GW: His decisions, character, war strategy, etc.

Did not know that his Doctor actually killed him. The medical practices of the day was not much better than voodoo.  I saw a documentary the other day and did not know this little tidbit.
