whoo fatty thread.
gonna have to dig up some pics but I'm right next to, probably the biggest year around fat bike only trail system in the world. Attached File pointing out a red tail watching from the cliff. funny watching even plus bikes just sink and become un-rideable. fatty's just cruise on by. I have more pics I'll post later. |

Hundreds of miles. I don't even know how many anymore. Nearly everything is one way, lots of loops. Here's a great vid of the place. Skydio 2 And Fat Biking |

Moab and Bend have LOTS of easy beginner trails that don't require much skill beyond the basics.
You can always walk the technical parts. What I find both in dirt motorcyclists and mountain bikers is a lack of instruction starting out. It's really worth it to take a class and learn the difference between counter-weight(leaning the bike under you) and counter-steering(leaning into a turn). |

It can be humbling when you're starting out, especially on a rigid bike. Just keep at it, youll get better and stronger at it. Fat bikes tend to help float over the chunk, but they are heavy on a climb and bounce a bit if you hammer hard on the downhill, still though, they can be the right tool sometimes. I do however also hate tight tree bar scraper shit. Really no reason for it nowadays. Nice bike btw! |

Banged the wheel back close enough with a rubber hammer, new tire went with a slightly wider than on the front, just to see. Weird. Turns in way faster, I can really push the front into turns now. Only downside it's a bit rough on my wrists. I didn't think going from 4 to 4.4 would be that much change. If it wasn't for wrist pain I'd be sold. Don't know what I should do now. |

One thing with the wider tires I've noticed is a few pounds pressure difference completely changes the ride, especially on the front tire. I normally run front and back around 8-10psi. If I haven't ridden in 3-4 days I notice the pressure drops and the turning is harder. Try some pressure changes on front vs. back and see if that helps.

My brother bought a 16 foes Mutz.
got a hell of a deal, 26" fatties, 27.5" plus, both on carbon fiber wheels, bike totally decked out, looks like it was hardly ridden. I took it home to repair some stuff (wicked badk brake bleed, bound up dropper/cable) then rode the hell out of it the next day, you know, to make sure everything worked. holy shit, I'm hooked. amazing bike, feels like a plush version of my Evil Following. just so damn smooth, quick turning, snappy handling.. except it has grip for days and the fatty sail over sand.. what a awesome bike... so I emailed Foes this morning to order one |

NICE!
How does it work with the multiple tire types? Are all the hubs spec'd to a certain width? Do you need to adjust brakes when switching tire diameters? |

View Quote It'll just be on 26" they say it can run up to a 4.8. I dunno yet. 150mm front 177mm rear. I wish they would have made the 197 rear since that's way more common now and might fit 5" but I think I'll be fine on 4.8, even 4.6 I'll be happy with. I'm going with the Wren 150mm inverted fork up front. Still haven't settled on wheels but probably the Atomik with the onyx hubs. Getting a Garbaruk cassette. probably GX AXS and Magura MT7 brakes. |

I don't think the weight on them is so bad, my brothers weighs less than my Cannondale. I think it work great out here, where a ride can be loose sandy steep with a rock garden at random. When I swapped from minions to schwalbe they weigh quite a bit less. Faster rolling and better in sand. Not as good on hard pack. |

I love the split top tube, and it has pretty short stays, which was what made me look for one. Nimble bike, pretty impressed with it for a lower end frame. Found it cheap on PB. Great vid, nice to see a simple edit with some solid, natural trials, and he left a few of the hiccups in, good stuff. Yes, I was referring particularly to the Mutz with the big Minions on it being tankish. I run it with 4" Dillinger's studded when conditions permit and it is noticeably lighter handling. I still love it with the minions though, gets up over and through anything as long as the lungs and legs are there. Are you running Jumbo Jim's now? Aren't those like 1000 grams? Super light. Haven't tried those yet. |

I run big Betty on my enduro. They grip like no others. However the rubber is super soft. The cornering knobs are looking like DHR with twice as many miles. Enduro rig is down and rehabbing the Mutz so I've been riding the Fatty.
Hadn't spent much time on a rigid bike these last few seasons and I've really been enjoying the change of pace. It's nice not having to repair or replace parts every other ride. Attached File |
