https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/eleanor-coppola-matriarch-of-a-filmmaking-family-dies-at-87/ar-BB1lxq7X

Eleanor Coppola, matriarch of a filmmaking family, dies at 87

"Gian-Carlo, who’s seen in the background of many of his father’s films and had begun doing second-unit photography,

died at the age of 22 in a 1986 boating accident. He was killed while riding in a boat piloted by Griffin O’Neal, son of Ryan O’Neal, who was found guilty of negligence.

" Beginning on 1979’s “Apocalypse Now,” Eleanor frequently documented the behind-the-scenes life of Francis’ films.

The Philippines-set shoot of “Apocalypse Now” lasted 238 days.

A typhoon destroyed sets. Martin Sheen had a heart attack. A member of the construction crew died."

Fascinating documentary on the making of Apocalypse Now...

The story of the French Plantation scene, the expense to build & fill the set Just Right, flying in cast and ...

Not even in the original Movie release.

and French-Vietnamese colonials played a very interesting part in the VC's war in the south and often fought for them
rubber plantations gave them aid & support just to keep their trees from getting damaged.
We were limited as to small arms on plantations..

I won't buy Michelin tires

I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.

For a while I owned a set of uniforms used for the movie. Unfortunately they were not screen used, but were rather backup sets. I had documentation from the prop house auction and was able to double my money when I sold them a few years ago.
