The golden voice. I only could watch Shooting USA sporadically due to comcast being an absolute trash provider, but I loved and miss his voice.

Cool dude.  Miss the pre-internet times when there were still cool shows on Saturday cable.

One of the SHOT shows in Orlando I think it was, there was an arfcom get-together in a big meeting room one afternoon. Folks were standing around BSing and he walked in and made some common arfcom joke about beans in chili or something. He talked to a bunch of people there, was pretty cool.

no kidding.

I was at SHOT one year looking for a specific booth so I was heads down looking at the booth numbers on the floor.

I heard someone talking up ahead and knew it was Jim even before I had looked up.

Me either, haven't watched it in probably at least 10+ years but can still hear his voice in my head.

The golden voice.

I watch the show when killing time.  His son has taken over.  The sign off is now "Keep them in the X ring."  Still a good watch.

The Outdoor Chanel let me watch back seasons, so I watched a lot of them the past several winters.

If it wasn’t for Jim Scoutten back in 1994, I might still be wearing a heavy shooting coat in the middle of an Ohio summer.

I saw this:

If you look in the upper right corner of that screen, it says “ESPN”.

Yeah, that’s right!  Eeee Ess Motherfuckin’ Pee Inn broadcasted a shooting match on their one and only channel back in 1994.

I was instantly hooked.

RIP Jim

Jim was a good dude.

He will be missed, I wished he would have posted a little outside of his own forum here. I first saw him on the car show he hosted back in the 90's.

American shooter on tnn back in the late 90s was my introduction to shooting sports. He was undoubtedly a big influence on my trajectory in life.

Had many phone conversations with him for business. The first time I spoke with him I didn't know it was him but couldn't help but think that voice was so damn familiar. Finally figured it out.
He was local here too and I've run into him a few times at the old Franklin gun shop.

He was a genuinely nice guy.

I echo everything said here. Miss Shooting USA and Wed Night at the Range.

Kid at our gun club is a competitive shooter and knows his son.

I remember that. Lots of good shows. Not necessarily always the best information or advice but showed firearms for self-defense in a positive light.

Keep’em in the ten ring, Jim.
