We were out at a local park yesterday and I caught a shot of this C-130 passing overhead. It was doing a couple of touch and goes at the Columbia SC airport. Nothing special, it was just my cell phone, but got a pretty good silhouette.

Our idea of a rough TDY was if the hotel did not have a swimming pool.

Great picture! Love the C-130.

Cool pic.
The USCG C-130 out of Clearwater does Touch+And+Go here at Sarasota airport, I stop to watch if I'm in the area. |

Same Columbia Metro Airport as the OP's post. We just had a C-17 do some low and slow loop around and touch and go here about 8 or 9 times. Frequently we get Navy Poseidon P-8 ASW planes doing touch and go loop around here. Sometimes the jet is right over the house. I assume the P8s are coming up from NAS Jacksonville.

used to love watching bunches of C130 flying over my house back when I was stationed at Bragg. Hundreds of Paratroopers earning the $150 a month.

Probably will be the second oldest military airframe after the B-52. Have flown coastal patrol as an observer with the USCG out of Clearwater. And can set my watch by the AF flyovers from Little Rock. Seems they use my mountain as a waypoint.

I live not far from Ellington and work even closer. Get to see all sorts of neat things. NASA T-38s and WB-57s, USAF C-130, KC-46, T-6, and T-38s plus the OKANG F-16s that are on alert here. Been seeing a lot of USN Super Hornets lately as well. Those guys love to show off and do their run in and break. Almost forgot the coastline MH-65s.
The private collections and museums here have a bunch of good stuff. RAVN is here as well as several Cold War era collectors with MiGs. Plus some WWII warbirds. |
