All the Hercs in the active duty inventory are J-models, first built in the 90s.

ETA - there might be some spec ops versions still flying Hs.

Damn, I didn't realize the USAF was the only air force flying Hercs.

The Omani air force has some Hercs that are primarily flown by British pilots seconded to the Omani AF.  I flew in one from Muskat to Khasab.  Looks like they have 3 C130 H,  1 C130J Super Herc and 1 C130J 30.

Thank you, guys, for posting those awesome pics.

I live within sight of I-40 and a lot of mil. AC seem to use it as a guide. LOTS of helicopters, but nothing low enough
for good pictures like y'all got.

I always think of my old man when I see a C-130. He was a supervisor in the department that made the reduction gear boxes for the T-56 and AE2100 engines at Allison.

The point here is that the design is still viable after the initial flight almost 70 years ago. Yes, the airframes are much newer than currently flying B-52s, but the airframe engineering was almost perfect for the mission they were designed for, and worthy of still being in production.

Like the CH-47, the original design that first flew in 1961, and still being built today..

That's an L100-30 (civilian model of the C-130), Lockheed, the 4698 C-130 built.
That Herc has been used and abused for it's entire life.
It's now a firebomber with Coulson.
Lynden Air Cargo is operating its L-382 aircraft on behalf of the Coulson group of companies to fight fires for the U.S. Forest Service.
