And what a good readily available Gin might be…
My future daughter-in-law is a fan, and I know nothing about it

I like Monkey 47 (German) but it's pricey.
The Botanist (Scottish) is very good too, and less expensive.

edit - gin is a neutral spirit infused with herbal/botanical ingredients to create the flavor profile. Some are very herbal, some very floral. Different gins can taste very different

It's medicinal, goes great with tonic that has quinine to fight malaria.

Bombay Safire &  Hendricks are both pretty good.

Bombay for gin & tonic

Hendricks & cucumbers

My favorite spirit...
Beefeaters, Brokers, Tanqueray, Plymouth, Plymouth Navy Strength, Boodles.
None are that expensive and all are tasty without the weird "New American" gin flavors.
Hendricks is... okay, if you like cucumber.  I don't.
Haven't had Monkey 47 yet.

Edited because of post after this as it has slipped my mind: Gordon's.  A surprisingly decent London Dry gin that punches WELL above it's price point.

Roku

It’s cheap, it’s Japanese and it is fucking delicious. Of all the gin I drink throughout the year, this is my go to.

A veteran of the British Foreign Service told me once that the secret weapon against food poisoning is Gin. Think you ate a bad clam...do a couple of shots of Gin.

He claimed that it was popular in India during the Raj for that very reason.

Off topic, but I thought it was interesting.

Bombay Sapphire is my go to if I'm going to drink Gin. If I ate a bad clam, anything will do.

I had a fun experience learning how to make gin at a distillery up in Wisconsin.  I was visiting my brother, and the place was an easy walk from his house.
We learned all about the different botanicals used to create different flavor profiles.  We each walked out with a bottle we'd created.
Mine was peppery.  His was citrusy.

My wife was always a Tanqueray Rangpur girl but has since been converted to Hendricks.  She loves it.  I cannot stand it.

Somewhat true.  The gin itself is not medicinal, at least concerning malaria.   It was originally added to quinine (being used to treat malaria) to make it more palatable to drink.  This was the origin of gin and tonic.  The tonic water commonly purchased to make gin and tonic has quinine in it, but at such low concentration it is not of any therapeutic value.
