Update 3/27
66 Sold and $1130 Raised, 9 days remain. https://www.customink.com/fundraising/phs-panther-art-2024-2nd-age-of-vikings-fundraiser?side=back&type=1&zoom=false We actually got quite a bit accomplished yesterday, despite so many students gone. We made an attempt at covering the lungs with the fabric, but found that it was too translucent and we will need to paint the foam first, and probably add a bit of expanding foam under the fabric to break up the lines. Decking getting painted top and bottom. Install of the decking.....you can see the power cord we ran for the wake lights. After cutting a whole for the cord, we worked to patch it up a bit. We will come back and touch up the paint soon. Power to our lights. Once we run the lights, then decorate over top with bubbles and beads, it should look pretty cool. Sophomores not happy about rivets......"This is Freshman work!!!" They lived. Wood shop was down fitting the dragon head to the top of the keel. They have more work to do before we can install, but we cut a little off the front and back of the top of the keel so it would fit over to, and at the right angle. Polyacrylic went on the sail to seal it, but it actually feels a bit softer now. I'll have to look at it again today and see if it stiffened up. The polyacrylic may have been a bad choice. Detailed tower tiles continued yesterday. Wouldn't be right with out a BFL shield on our long ship's side. Braids are getting a bit big. They told me they may remove a few more dreads. They also began running power cords to the head, and inserting the lights in the back of the skull. After getting the hang of the rock mix, my artist got almost all of them covered late in the afternoon. |

Should have just stayed with the Elmers from the beginning. I have both school glue and regular. We used the regular for the 1st two coats. It would have been fine. |

Did the acrylic soak into the elmer's glue and un-cure it or something? Was it still all floppy after it had a day to dry?

Well, kids and staff order may have to wait till next week.. The total is more than any of the ready credit cards my principal has on hand.
I was going to put it on my card, but they said they can get approval for a higher limit card. Order is pretty big. We are going to blow out last years total shirt order pretty easily. |

Update 3/28 Last day of the week for us. We will be back on Tues. 4/2
Sales have stalled today..... still at 66 sold and $1130 raised. https://www.customink.com/fundraising/phs-panther-art-2024-2nd-age-of-vikings-fundraiser?side=back&type=1&zoom=false Kind of crazy, but Wed night, a neighbor showed up at my door, and wanted to donate two mannequins that her son had had, as he was an artist. Not sure what we will do with them.....maybe NASA will donate a couple space suits? Anyway, I couldn't say no, as I know how expensive they are, and these are pretty good quality. So, naked people. We got the eyes done for the keel carving dragon head. Little Sherwin-Williams donated "Color of the Year" paint on our dragon lungs to keep the foam from showing With the paint dry, we added hide paste, then some expanding foam, then pressed the fabric over top and moved the foam around a bit. Small scale production resumes for our dragon skin. Castle gate getting filled in a bit. The ghost bow getting more detailed oils on the outer planks. Starting to run lights on the wake splashes Few more trees went up yesterday on our village. Our dragon rider getting some lights behind his eyes. They also thinned out his dreads a bit and re-braided them. |

What sort of motor/actuator are you using for the heart and lung animation?
A slow continually turning motor or a servo type that goes open then rolls back closed? |

Just wondering if they're going to need to get robotics involved, a few weeks before the end of school, that robot shop isn't exactly speedy with designs, especially not knowing what the parts are beyond a vague idea. |

T-Shirt bought.
Guns, you may want to shop for a new fundraising provider next year, $9.95 shipping on a $22 shirt is pretty stiff, especially as you aren't getting a % of the shipping profit. |

Is there a Future UPS & USPS Workers class where they teach kids to drop kick boxes that the shipping could be farmed off on? Shirt ordered. Update 4/1
4 days left to get a shirt! Arfcom had been fantasticly generous as usual! $3,800 raised 263 items sold https://www.customink.com/fundraising/phs-panther-art-2024-2nd-age-of-vikings-fundraiser?side=back&type=1&zoom=false We are off today, and will be back tomorrow, but here are the pictures of the work done Thursday. The dragon lungs started to get covered on the inside. This wasn't a perfect start. We got better at it with some trial and error. The extra sets of dragon eyes are finding homes inside some of the tunnels under the castle. Not all of the windows will have stained glass, but we felt some of the upper sets would look good with them. Students have started drawing out patterns after tracing the inside parameters of the windows. This will slide inside the room and up against the windows when done. The plastic film will be removed once the pattern is hand painted on. Decorative tile trim around the windows and doorways. We finished funding lights around the bow wake on our longship. Bubbles and beads will be added starting tomorrow. We tested the sail......and although it does hold some of the curved form, it's not great, so we are now adding wire. The viking dragon rider got his hair thinned, and then re-braided. |

It's been a few years since you had a duck stamp. Hopefully this will make it all the way, it's a beautifully done work with subjects that aren't often seen (compared to the usual Mallard/Wood duck or geese with waterfowl stamps) --Your poll on shirt doesn't have The Standard "Heather Grey XL T-shirt". Blue? Who gets blue? I can't even vote for lack of options. |
