Until then this shit is expensive and no one has any money. Besides what does an F-35 do against the kind of people who can't muster better air defense than a 20mm cannon that a C-130 loaded with bombs literally made of garbage can't do better?

It can make them spend enough money trying to catch up to ensure that they never actually catch up.

JAST goes back to the 90s.

Fair enough - my point is that - as amazing as the f-35 is, we have better tech now and could exceed those capabilities.

Yes but we would need to wrap a high performance stealth combat fighter around that. And that is no easy feat. Although they are trying with NGAD. Maybe they will be able to pull it off with another 10 years of work. But I'm not optimistic.

Overly complex, made by slaves, and a massive overrated mess to maintain?

This is part of the rationale and purpose for the F-15EX.

Fat chick at the end of the bar that is unimpressive until you discover she's a complete freak in the sheets.... (paraphrasing from a poster above)

How do you get any work done with all the asian tour groups taking pictures of all the process control panels and taking samples accidentally?

Maybe they found an aliexpress multifunction remote control that sets all the cockpit glass to LO DIM?

The airframe is more like 20 years old (at least). We can almost certainly do better than that too.  Somebody, somewhere, is doing just that.

You think a Soviet pulse Doppler radar is harder to jam than an APG-81?

There is a F22 with F35 tech in the works. Looks like F22 with all the helmet, vision, battlefield control and radar that the f35 has.
