Apologize if this is a dupe.
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2024/05/01/thompson-center-arms/ In an announcement on April 30, Gregg Ritz, former owner of Thompson/Center, said he had re-acquired the Massachusetts-based gunmaker. Ritz previously sold Thompson/Center to Smith & Wesson in 2007. S&W announced its plans to sell the brand in 2021, and subsequently ended production. Now, Ritz is back in charge. |

Great news! I hope they resume production of the Venture line of rifles.

Interesting. I wish them luck. I assume they will do some single shots since that's what they are known for. I assume the patents on the Contender and Encore are expired with SSK building their own Contender.

I want to see the Hotshot .22 come back. Looked like a 2/3 size Encore. Never shot one but the one I looked at seemed like it would handle nice.

They made the best muzzleloaders on the market years ago.
Hope they can make a go of it. |

TC Venture and Compass budget rifles were top notch. Please bring them back.

Bring back the Katahdin rifles , iirc they were in .450BM, .45-70, .460 and .500.

In 2020, Academy sports was closing out Thompson Center Rifles very cheap. I got a compass utility basic rifle in .243. Turned out to be extremely accurate and has fed the family venison. In 2021 I could find magazines for around 30 bucks on eBay. I waited not knowing they were going out of business. Wow in 2022 magazines had jumped to 100 bucks plus and even have some in eBay for $200+ with buy it now. Insane.
I have contemplated selling it for that reason. Heaven forbid I lose the magazine. With this maybe they will make the magazines again. |

ive got one of those break barrel target pistols in .22 mag, its pretty cool

I’m hoping for BP sidelocks….
With the prices on used TC guns now, I’m expecting the new ones to be pricy. But I can hope. |

I want another Contender with the Super 14 barrel in .35 Remington. Why did I sell the one I had?
|
|
FPNI. They need to start making realistically priced Encore barrels.
|

I love my Contender. Have had it and 8 barrels since around '92 or '93

I want contender barrels with ejectors. They were a rare factory specialty option and I've never seen one.
A 45-70 pistol with ejectors would be too cool for school. Side note my 45-70 contender pistol is the most painful to shoot gun I own by far. |

A handful but IMO a hot loaded .500S&W is worse, even with the weight of the X frame. But .45-70 out of a handgun is an experience for sure! |

Quoted: Finally, some good news. Thanks for posting that, OP. View Quote I have a pro hunter muzzle loader. Absolutely love that rifle. I sent the action off two decades ago to have a trigger job done and it's a really good shooter. Would love to have a 300 blkout threaded barrel for it less than $450! |

They make very simple, accurate rifles. They make other things. But they do that first thing very well.
They'll probably be ok. |

I guess I didn't realize Ritz was the owner at one time.
he had his outdoor show and was sponsored by T/C if I remember correctly he got his butt spanked for shooting a deer while filming and ditching it to shoot another one for the show. I think his photographer ratted him out. Lacey Act? I think he also he owned a large hunting club that got busted for fraudulent data ( actually all kinds of shady shit) called Game Trails. he paid out $50K in fines on that one. |

View Quote It's a whole lot worse than the much more powerful 500s from an x frame or a BFR. I really don't know why the trigger guard has to have that annoying little skin removing screw either... |

This makes me incredibly happy.
Couple SBRs will definitely happen. |

Cool. My most recent gun purchase was a contender w/ 3 scoped barrels (7 30 waters, 223, and 22lr) for $600

But the 14 without a brake hurt a lot more. That said I sometimes shoot a triple round ball load out of it with a light load of unique or tight group and it will actually hold about 3-4 inches out to 25 yards and is super fun. With other super light loads it's still a good time. |

Glad to hear it. A friend of mine has what has to be every caliber of Encore factory rifle and pistol barrel made. I have a lot of catching up to do.
