Been neglecting this one the last few months.

This weekend I batched up some cast HPs. Just got them coated last night.

Goal for this week is to carry and shoot this thing a few times or so

I like to load these in special casings with 10 grains of HS6. Gets em going about 1000FPS so

Carried appendix in a JM Custom holster

Sweet!  Just picked up a Redhawk 4", really need to run her thru her paces.  Got a ton of new Starline brass, just need to get off my lazy keister & load some boolits.

Forgot the speed strip today so hopefully 12 rounds will suffice the rest of the day

I've yet to run across anything that needs killing bad enough for me to endure a 44 mag handgun. Now a lever action marlin is a totally different and really pleasant animal.

The loads I carry are like a really spicy .45

About a 245Gr HP. Pretty manageable at 1000 FPS

I’m pretty accurate with semiauto pistols but can barely hit the broadside of a barn with a revolver.

Probably just the way you’re forced to grip a revolver.

Not sure if should give it another try.  Would be nice to carry a 44 or 357 in bear country.

A revolver is tough to master

I still have a long way to go and Ive been using them pretty consistently the last few years

At the same time I feel comparing them to a semi is a little disingenuous in the sense of timed trials such as bill drills and the like. Its throwing much more power each shot

I use Hitek coating

There is also powder coating however I have never tried it

The Hitek seems to do a pretty good job

I get a little leading here and there but it largely brushes right out instead of clinging to the barrel.

With some of the last Trailboss I have I loaded up some 240's to just under 900fps, perfect for our bowling pin match last weekend. Back when I picked up my 5" 629 Mountain Gun I got a case of Remington HTP, holy shit that stuff is hot lol. Their published load data is weaker than reality.

If you have any left over after a session, how well does it store once it's mixed?

I make a batch per the instructions and keep it until depleted. Just sits in the garage until Im ready to use it in a old OJ container.

I throw a bullet or two in there to help mix everything up like paint cans when using after its sat awhile

From what I gather I think Hitek is applied easier than powder coating. But I will say Ive seen recovered projectiles on the internet that STILL have the powder coating on them.

I dont feel Hitek stays on as well but it certainly seems good enough. Have black and like a cherry copper kinda color. The black looks really good

I have yet to actually put a full house magnum load through this thing

Shot a short box of 180Gr magnums but thats it.

Currently dont have any large pistol magnum primers and only using my remaining stock of LP. So H110 loads are out right now.

I might throw a high charge of HS6 in a magnum casing just to remind me what recoil is

Slow going but Ill get to the range tomorrow finally

Day 3 of carry this week for the 44
