I'll start the IPA hate: it's bitter piss. Highly alcoholic, but still bitter piss.

And GO!

I would try it.  Hazy is not my favorite IPA, but it is good to try new things.

Put a shot of Evan Williams Peach in the bottom of a glass, then pour one of these over it.  Enjoy.  You're welcome.

I'm a bit of a purist with both beer and whisky.  However, I will admit that this sounds intriguing.

Tonight we are working on Huss Cenpho (for Central Phoenix)

I like it.  Just a touch of citrus to go with the IPA.

Any IPAs they describe as juicy almost always get an automatic pass from me. I've learned my lesson. Some unfiltered haze is fine, but recently they've been going overboard with it.

Juicy, Witty and Golden Monkey are all pretty good offerings, IMO.  I'm not a fan of sours, so Berry and Sour Monkey's aren't high on my list, but at 9.5% I quickly stop caring about that...

I got a free 6pack of New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Tropic Force a few weeks ago.  Holy shit.  That stuff is awesome.  Not bitter, not too "sweet".  Pretty high ABV.  New favorite, if I wasn't doing Keto.

This was followed a few hours later by North Coast Brewing Brother Thelonious, a 9.4% strong dark Belgian Ale and it was fucking tasty!  I have had it once before, but it was early in my craft beer journey and I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now.

My beer preferences:

1) Barrel Aged Stouts

2) Belgian Dubbels and Quads, with emphasis on the Quads

3) Hazy IPA's.  For years, I hated IPA's but I recently discovered it was because I had only had face puckering West coast IPA's.  Once I discovered the Northeast, hazy, fruity style, I got it

My second homebrew batch (a Russian Imperial Stout) is fermenting right now.  I'm looking for a Belgian dubbel/quad and hazy IPA, for brews #3 and #4.    Extract only right now, but I'm researching all-grain brewing.

There are plenty of good beers that aren't competing with each other to be the bitterest brew on the market. IPA drinkers are masochists that don't really like what they are drinking, but tell everyone how good it is to retain their masochist cred.

Of all the conspiracy theories ever promoted, this one is the silliest.  Just because you don't like IPA doesn't mean that other people don't.  If most people didn't like IPAs they would never have sent more than a couple of ships to India carrying it in the first place.

Lol dude that is just dense. You could say the same for any type of alcohol and its "drinkers."

Some IPAs are quite pleasant and tasty, some are a bit more extreme, but it's not the most popular style of craft beer for no reason. I'm not a huge IPA fan either. They wreck my body lol.

I'll be the "well actually" guy today. They made the beer that way in order to preserve it.

- - -

There are different categories of IPAs, and they are VERY different from each other. West Coast is very bitter. New England is not very bitter. There are others, too. So, when someone says "I don't like IPAs" I wonder what they had, which type.

I like the New England hazy IPAs (NE IPA). I don't want any flavor additive ingredients like coconut or chocolate or fruit or anything. Just beer flavored beer. However, the various different hops used in NE IPA can have flavors that are somewhat reminiscent of tropical fruit, much in the same way a strong cup of dark roast coffee might be almost chocolatey even though there is zero chocolate in it.

I cannot drink beer in any quantity like I could when I was 25. It just fills me up. But I can really enjoy a couple or three of them.

In my county and the next one there are 28 tiny breweries. I like to buy directly at the breweries. This way I know I am getting fresh beer and not pasteurized stuff that is who knows how old. They also will usually pour you a taste to try before you buy, which is kind of cool.

Random examples:

I will one up your "well actually".  The pale ale was actually purchased off the shelf.  George Hodgson's Bow Brewery offered credit, and so was purchased and shipped to India.  It wasn't originally brewed for shipping long distances.
Now, if we believe this theory, (and I do), we have to give up the theory that Martin Luther invented IPAs.  He did play a part in popularizing hops in beer brewing, but I don't think he deserves credit for IPAs.

That is an alternative history that many people believe.  I don't.  Pale ale was not specifically brewed for export to India.  It was purchased off the shelf, mainly because of the credit extended by the brewer.  I don't doubt that after this, brewers experimented with different styles, but the original brew was off the shelf, not specifically designed for shipping long distances.  That it did ship well was simply a happy accident.  Buying beer on credit for 18 months was what the original choice was all about.

We stopped by a local brewery that just moved to a location about 2 miles from our house.  Had couple of flights, both of which included their coconut cream stout and I also brought a 22 oz bottle of it home with me.  Not a traditional tasting stout (none of the beers I had conform to the typical beer styles) but delicious, nonetheless.
