Hey all,

Any recommendations (or brands/types to avoid) for an adjustable ball mount for my super duty with a 2” and 2 5/16 ball?  Is weighsafe a good brand?  What about the Shocker HD?

Thanks!!

BW adjustables are nice but kind of expensive. We use them at work for 2 5/16 and 2in trailers. The adjustability is a nice feature when swapping between vehicles.

They come equipped with a 2.5in shank so there is no need for a adapter sleeve.

OP.....

This is one of those things you don't want to cheap out on.

Buy a quality American made and tested hitch.

BW is one of them.

Gen-y is another.

Shocker is also well made.

Curt is an industry standard.

All of the above will serve you well.

Please....just stay away from the chinese aluminum adjustable mounts you see on amazon.

Be aware locking hitch pins are useless.  Remove your expensive BW or Gen Y hitch when not in use.

Or get a 5/8" Grade 8 bolt with a locking nut.  Add red Loc-Tite for extra fun.

Plus coat the bolt in antisieze and cover the threads with silicone.
Make getting it out easier especially if you live in a salty area.

This. Makes it far harder for thieves to steal your drawbar.

Not only the bolt, but also the entire drawbar covered by the hitch - especially if you live in salt land.

When it comes to anything trailer hitch related there is only one name I trust anymore. B&W has a product line that is second to none, the quality of their shit is second to none, ITS MADE IN AMERICA Pay a little more and have peace of mind

Just remember, the trailer hitch ball was never designed to be either a recovery point to tow you out, not a towing point for you to recover other vehicles.

There are attachments that replace the tongue & ball specific for vehicle towing / recovery but never use the Ball - especially if you have a dropped set up because the forces will break things & people get killed & injured when things 'dynamically' come apart.

This is the way, I have a 3" extreme duty with a 6" drop, with an extra setup for my equalizer wdh.  It would survive a nuclear blast, but get ready for the sticker shock.

I went with the Curt with 2 inch shank and use an insert.

I didn’t need the extra capacity of the 2.5 inch shank and figured if I ever went back to a vehicle with a 2 inch receiver, I wouldn’t have to buy a new hitch. Matter of fact, on the Curt’s, if you’re only using the 2 inch ball, i think both the 2 inch shank and 2.5 inch shank have same 10k rating. The 2.5 shank will have an extra 6k capacity on the 2 5/8 ball.
