Nice job OP. I used to do this for tabletop gaming but I have to admit I liked painting the miniatures and making the landscape more than actually playing the game

Ironically, the resin pour is the part I am LEAST happy with, and I feel like my impatience really screwed it up.

I thought it looked good, I liked the waterfall especially. I was thinking about the anxiety I would have pouring the resin over all that detail work.

who would have guessed Rio Grande would be such great inspiration for a Vikings vs Samurai diorama

No no, they absolutely have archers.  There are a handful of them at top of the dirt trail, shooting down.

Sir, you are student of steel so the fact that you are mocking men who would debate what steel and tactics are better is deeply troubling. The Riddle of Steel is not something to be mocked or trivialized.

Everyone knows the speed of a Samurai with his katana trumps the brute force of the Viking with his longsword.

Needs a Mariko figure.  Perhaps attempting to distract the Vikings by bathing in the surf.  I'm going to my bunk.

You need a hobby.

Oh, wait...

That's really cool looking.  I especially like the underwater aspect.  Are sharks common in those waters?

It amazes me the stuff people can build and create when given the time and resources.

I met a guy who is building a scale model of the trains and coal mines in the area that operated in the 50's.  Really neat what he's doing.  He bought and restored an old mine worker bunkhouse and has his workshop in one of the units.

I just looked it up, and apparently Japan is within the Great White range, but not so much for Oceanic Whitetips.

ETA:  From now on, I'll just tell people they are BOTH Great White sharks!

Maybe in your upcoming diorama of the OTHER side of the island, there is a wrecked Samurai boat, with vegetation suggesting an island in the Oceanic Whitetip range.

What if the Japans are pissed about the Vikings so they force the survivors to fix the ship and take them back to where they came from?
