I wore a uniform to my son's commissioning, for my dollar.  If it was BT I would not have.

Agreed
Family is family. If they ask its ok. If they don’t, stick with a ball cap.

My dad, still active duty USAF at the time, wore his blues to my 1986 USAF Basic Training graduation. My son asked that I wear my blues to his USMC Boot Camp graduation in 2007. I was still in the AF at the time. I've seen some retirees/veterans that had no business stuffing themselves into a uniform. Then again I've seen some Active Duty personnel that looked like slobs in their uniform at graduations.

Then a year later, when my medical boards were done and I was retired, my wife and co-workers insisted on me having a formal retirement ceremony. My USMC son attended in uniform.

Much depends upon how well your brother has kept up his appearance.  Haircut within regs and such.

I wouldn't, personally; but to each his own.  I once saw a local member of the high school class of 1958 wear her CHEERLEADER uniform to her 60th class reunion.
Talk about attention whores!  There is nothing fitting about a 78 year old woman in a cheerleading outfit, IMHO.
