is a dead communist?

Were you reared by elders who wholeheartedly believed that and taught you that from a young age?

Yup

That and spending my youth trailing those retards around the oceans of the world gave me an appreciation for how utterly incompetent the ideology truly is.

My family fought communists twice in wars during the 20th century.

This.

My dad raised me to be pro-American and pro capitalism.

I hate him now and never got along with him as well as my mom in better years.

What really turned me against communism was reading how horrible it was in Stalin’s USSR.  The mass arrests, deportations to gulags, outright executions, confiscation of people’s food so they starved to death.  Yep, that will do it, the only good commie is a dead commie.

Nope, but reading history made it clear that is the way it has to be.
It’s rare for history to be so crystal clear on a lesson.

You can vote your way into Socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

This is correct.  Communism (as a form of government) is slavery.  People who advocate and engage in enslavement don't deserve to live, and the world is a better place without them.

My grandfather was OG making good commies and instilled that hatred in my father for all our lives.
I am the same way and my daughter will be taught that commies are not people they are pure evil!

Yep. Influenced by my grandfather who helped raise me. My mom was a child of the 60’s that had definite left leaning tendencies. So living between them I learned how to listen to both sides of a position and analyze each side based on their merits.

I also liked studying history and looked at how earlier societies came about and evolved. On the face of it I can see how disenfranchised people are drawn to the socialized systems of governance and “FairPlay” ideals. In practice though it has usually been influenced into becoming a less than desirable state, based on the nature of how people are. I can’t say it appeals to me and that capitalism with its flaws is a more productive and appealing form of society.

My grandpa made it clear that communism was not survivable.

He was a Korean-era vet. Spent his tour in Greenland(?) anticipating a northern invasion.

Eta: a lot of people thought my grandpa was overly harsh about political stuff. With the benefit of hindsight……nah, he was right.

No, but they never expected today's problems.

My grandpa would say that progressives are evil and are our worst enemy.  He was saying that to me in the early 90's.  I still can't believe how right he was.

As you can see the chaos thats going on in the USA right now its very true.   Thats one thing the Germans had right in WWII.

Not really.  By the time I was old enough to learn that, the Soviets were on their last legs and the Chinese were busy running their own people over with tanks.  So they were a bit comical at the time.

I learned it, later, on my own, though.

I recall dad complaining about commies and using the term "pinko", which I had no idea the meaning of.

I had a couple of teachers who fled the Eastern Bloc. They didn't have any good things to say about communism. They also made it clear that they were Republicans.

Just look for and vote for the Democrat, doesn't matter if you know what their policies are.

The junior high Social Studies teacher who taught the unit on the Soviet Union told us flat out that Communism didn't work, was unabashedly evil,
and that the West in general, and the United States in particular, were most certainly the "good guys" in the Cold War. He was very clear on all of this.

My grandfather was from Eastern Europe, and no fan of communists.

As a kid I remember in 1994 my mom being super interested and thrilled with the elections in South Africa.

As an adult I understand what motivated Eugene deKock.

When I was in high school spanish class, one of my classmate's father came to talk to us. He escaped Cuba when it turned communist. Most of his family was killed or left behind. He was so appreciative of the opportunity that the USA gave him, that he joined the USMC and went to Vietnam to kill communists there. It was one of the most powerful talks that I have ever witnessed. He was just a low key local guy. I didn't even know that his daughter was adopted. Good people.

What ever blows their skirt up. That is up to them. Frankly, I know a lot of Vietnamese and they bear no hard felling to Americans nor do the veterans I know have any hard feels to the Vietnamese people.

Now the NVA and the hard corps Vietcong are dick heads.

You have to understand that a lot of the Vietcong rank and file were conscripts that were forced to fight with them based on treats of death to themselves and their families.

We were all victims of circumstances.

I also don’t have hard feelings towards Mohammed Ali. He had a conviction and stood up and took it like a man.

Now Jane Fonda, she will be the root cause for my first arrest for pissing on her grave. It is my will to live.  I will take dubble doses of Flomax a week before to insure a strong stream. I might even write my name on her grave with my piss.

I figured it out on my own.

My parents taught me that there is no free lunch, someone has to pay for it.  Much about life, economics, and politics can be derived from that.

My parents taught me to love my country and critical thinking skills.  My mom wanted me to take Russian in college as I was in AFROTC and she said I would better understand the enemy of America.
