I would bet a lot of it has to do with industry pressure. People age out of roles. Agent says "Hey, some surgery may help get some gigs" I'd imagine a lot of them jump at it.
Not saying I agree with it or that the surgeries look good. |

I think it's important to note how old the industry has gotten over the years.
Meaning it's the same crop of actors still getting roles well beyond when actors of the past would have aged out of them and retired. I imagine that's why you see less new faces unless they're a nepo-baby. |

Many people in Hollywood are not very smart (some are, but many have learned to get by on their looks and rely on people to do their thinking for them, not realizing that to many of those advisors, the actor is a consumable commodity to be used and replaced). Those actors and actresses are sold on surgery to "make it" like it is a one-time fix, but don't realize many cosmetic surgeries are not a permanent and require maintenance, each time losing bone mass, increasing chances of infection and secondary injuries, etc.

It's not just celebrities. Have you walked through the Miami airport? Every chick over 40 has overstretched lips from ear to ear and is frozen from the eyes up from botox. It's gross.
I grabbed a coffee the other day and 2 of the 3 girls behind the counter looked like someone punched them in the mouth. Seriously, how many hours do you have to work at a minimum wage job to pay for a lip filling? These girls had to be in their early 20's--if that. I don't get it. |
