Local American Legion (Boyertown, PA) recently acquired this thing of beauty.  Photographed with a camera and film that is just a bit younger than the gun.

Early M109 variant w/ a weird barrel?  Did some PL / XO time in an FSC for a Paladin Bn.  Those were M109A6s though.

Apparently they made a 105mm version.  The M108.  Who knew!?  Google says many were upgraded to 155.

The 108, at one time division DS guns were 105mm.  But putting a light gun like a 05, it a heavy chassis did not make any sense, so they went away.

No replacement for displacement.  Newspaper article said this M108 came from Aberdeen, which is relatively nearby.

Looks like an M109 that was just in the pool.
