No.
Am planning on getting that done soon.

I was active for ten, had a long break and recommissioned in the reserves for 12.

I do have a condition that popped up during AD, but thankfully hasn't caused any more trouble yet

You need to be in full time planning mode. It sneaks up fast. Don't expect anyone to be looking out for you as you transition out.

Don't take anything for granted.

For example.
I actually retired late summer, but it has taken HRC this long to process my retirement.

My unit that I was attached to and had ADCON was zero help. When they knew I was leaving, I was persona non grata. Heck, they never processed my last BA pay.

My unit of assignment was great however. But they had no way of dealing with an of my paperwork

My stuff is still messed up and they  owe me 3 months of retirement pay. I'm just dang happy I'm back in the system, getting paid, and back in Tricare. I can fight the other stuff at my leisure now.

The trick is to maintain a pulse. They'll keep on sending you money as long as you do that.

Easy money.

Congrats! Medical will mean more to you than the money even if you use Tricare as secondary to other ins. I retired in 05, and worked until I was 60. Life is good.

No doubt.
When I recommissioned, my $1500 per month BC/BS was replaced with $210 per month reserve select. That effectively put more money in my pocket than 05 drill pay each month.

Now, $345 per year for my wife and me.

For the foreseeable future, Tricare is the most valuable benefit of retirement as. Not only is it a bargain, it gives employers less leverage over you.

Congrats!  August will mark 18 years since I retired from active duty.  I didn't really retire though as I already had a full-time job lined up and have been working ever since.

I think I will call it quits for good though in a couple years.

Nice! I have a little bit more time to go. I've already passed 20, but I will stick around for my promotion board. I look forward to being where you are at someday!
