The grip is the only reason why I never bought a Glock.  Way uncomfortable for me.

I knew such a beast must exist considering all the Glocks in use, just hadn't gotten around to checking because I knew I'd immediately be compelled to order one.  Damn you RotorDemon, that's $250 gone now!

A quick Google shows Advantage Arms kit pretty much owning the top hits, is it the only kit or just widely considered the best?  I still wouldn't mind seeing a kit offered from Glock, they could probably undercut that price a bit if nothing else.

Not to troll but seriously, after reading most of the suggestions here, it sounds like most are wanting Glock to make an XD.

+1 Grip angle is correct, no funky finger grooves, has a grip safety, still keeps the light rail, a double stack .45 is barely thicker the the G17. All the reason I own a G17 and an XD in .45 ACP.

+100!!!  Especially in the 26/27 model.  Compete with Kahr for the tiny BUG market.  Love my Kahr, but have had that dreaded peening issue with my pm9.

Wow - how did I miss this thread? it's one of my favorite subjects!

1. Replaceable grip inserts - This one is huge IMO and is where Glock has let their competition get a leg up on them. I think one insert that mimic the current frame. One insert that keeps the same angle but looses the hump at the bottom and a 3 insert the reduces the angle to some more 1911 like.
2. Either drop the finger grooves or make the front strap a replaceable panel too. Personally I think they should just loose them because anybody who wants them can always get a Hogue slip on.

These 2 wouldn't necessarily be "Gen4" additions but I would like to see them...

3. Single stack models in either 26-27 and\or 19-23 frame size. I'm thinking they could make a single stack 9mm that would hold 10 round and have the overall dimension of the 19. That would be sweet.
4. Carbine - nuff said

a CARBINE

seriously? I think from gen 1 to gen 3 they have reached "Glock Perfection".
light rail? check
finger grooves? check
were there any major internal mods between gens 1-3?

maybe ditch the plastic guide rod, have an optional decocker, an integral locking system, rework the slide removal thing and put a better slide release instead of having to buy aftermarket ones..

no finger grooves, a real safety, a more ergonomic grip.  or how's about this, copy the S&W M&P exactly and give it a real safety & I'm sold.

Explain this one for me. I'm no Glock Mechanic, but I don't know of any problems with these, except for the competition shooters that use lighter weight springs.

Im fine with whats in the 9mm models, but Ive always felt the .45 and ESPECIALLY the .40s could use a pound or two more weight to increase the dwell time before unlocking.

Ahhhh. OK, Thanks.

Well, first off, I love my g17.  The only complaint I have is the plastic sights.  Who would put plastic sights on a pistol.  My only other complaint is the slide release could us a larger surface area, like the full size hk usp has.  Other than that, it's my favorite pistol.

It's not a slide release.  It's a stop lever.  You shouldn't be using it to send your slide forward.

They fit my hand just right too.

How many different Gen3 Glocks, specifically different frame sizes, do you own? I ask because while I do not like finger grooves on any firearm, I find the grooves on my G17 do fit OK and don't bother me much. The grooves on my G19 did not fit at all and had to go. Because of that, its kind of hard for me to imagine someone finding both the 19/23 and the 17/22 finger grooves fitting perfectly considering that are not located in the same location.

I notice a lot of people mentioning things like the sights, 3.5# connectors, ext. controls, etc.. Glock doesn't need a "Gen4" to do those things but either way, those items don't bother me one bit because they are all easy and fairly cheap item to "fix" yourself if yu feel the need. While I agree steel sights would make more sense then plastic ones, I would rather pick my own sights so as far as I'm concerned, sell them with the cheap ones and keep the price down and I'll take care of that part myself.

Modifying the grip on a current Glock to fit is not easy, cheap or attractive so that's why I consider replaceable backstraps the most beneficial thing Glock could do to improve their weapon. Look at how many people claim they would like to use the Glock but they don't fit them or point right for them. If there was a way for the average person to modify the grip to work for them, I think Glock would sell a lot more pistols.

What are some of the things you would like to see on generation four GLOCKS?

This is what I would like to see:

-Create a long barrel GLOCK 21 .45ACP just like the 34/35
-Add more chamber support
-Offer an optional external safety (I know I'll get flamed for this)
-Offer automatic capabilities for all GLOCK models (just like the GLOCK 18 9mm)
-Offer interchangeable grips
-Offer GLOCK models without finger grooves
-Offer silver colored GLOCK models (I like silver )
-Offer a .22LR GLOCK

What would you do to fourth generation GLOCKs?

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN??

Yes, I cream in my pants whenever I think about a full-auto GLOCK 21 .45ACP. Or a full-auto 10mm.

I think that they should start by using a steel or alloy frame.
It should have the grip angle and basic shape of the 1911.
Go to a single-action-only trigger, with a thumb-safety, and a grip safety, for cocked-and-locked carry condition.
Use a single-stack 8rd mag.
Start using a JM Browning barrel link system.
Eliminate the polygon barrel, and use a normal rifled barrel.
Make it in 45ACP.

No, seriously, I think that a Glock in 22LR would be an excellent idea.
And the grip angle needs to be normal. A grip angle isn't the right place to be different.
Eliminate the polygon barrel, and support the chambers better to eliminate the kabooms.

And they need to have some kind of "flagship model", like HK does.
They've done fine with the cheap pistols, let's see what they can do at the $1000 price range.

Edited to add:
And add some styling!
Just because it is plastic doesn't mean it has to look bad.

Still livin' in the early 1900's huh Tom?

Just kidding bro, I totally agree with the latter part of your post.

1. Grip inserts like my Sig P2022 does so that there isn't this big ghetto ass on the bottom of the grip.

2. Scale the G36 up to G19 size(barrel length && frame height) and keep the current 28.5mm width. Flat back strap a'la the 1911 or put the grip inserts in it, put a steel mag release on it and let it take 1911 mags.

Side panels too?  You can't have all four sides of a grip removable- there'd be nothing for the other parts to attach to!

You want something lighter than 3lbs.??

Option for grips with or without finger grooves.
A more supported chamber in the .40 cal.

I like the finger grooves, but I can see where others have gripes.

As others have said, I'd recommend offering a 34/35 style in 45 and 10mm.  It would sell like hotcakes.  It would also stop me from having to buy a 34/35 now.

Add some steel sights standard and the 3.5 connector like triburst said as well.

If they'd change these, I might buy a Glock:

1.  Finger grooves.  One size doesnt fit all.  Get rid of them

2.  Backstrap.  Get rid of all that empty space in the rear.

3.  Forward cocking serrations.  I like to use the on handguns.

4.  Aluminum trigger, or atleast a trigger made of metal.

5.  Long slide .45ACP and 10mm(similar to the 34/35)

6.  A public admission of st))pidity ver the whole .45GAP thing

Smooth trigger face on all models.
3.5 lb connector on all models standard heyStandard 3 dot steel sights vs plastic.
Smoother backstrap.
Some type of built in buffer for recoil that won't wear out or break.
Move slide release back about 3/8 inch or have extended releases standard.
I like the finger grooves & light rail.
Leave the 3 internal safeties alone.

Oh yeah, and different colored frames & slides.
I dig my new G23 with green frame
