Yep, looks like large... thanks.
Going to order some, I reload, and want all my brass to be the same. |

There's 10mm with small primer holes now?
It's bad enough with .45 ACP having both. |

Is this ammo .40 or real 10mm? I’m just curious if anyone has chronographed it…

If a 147 grn 9mm at 1000 FPS is the hammer of Thor then a 165 grn. 40 at 1200 fps must a lightening bolt from Zeus!

AAC 10mm Review with Velocity Test With the ubiquitous 180grn 10mm FMJ bullet in factory range/practice ammo, you can do better with MagTech, Sig, or certainly UW’s “Range Supply” ammo. All of those are pushing the 180grn slugs into the 1240fps-1270fps range. Supposedly, the CCI/Blazer ‘brass’ 180grn 10mm ammo is doing 1200fps, but we haven’t chrono-ed it. |

Our Federal 180gr is barely making supersonic in a 4.6" barrel

You can do better than the Federal Champion 180grn ammo for general range/practice 10mm fodder, as mentioned above: UW, Sig, or MagTech. Choose your price-point.
Personally, where I’ve noticed a slight uptick in real (legit) 10mm offerings from the mainstream ammo-makers (Federal, Winchester) is in personal protection type ammo. Winchester offers a 200grn Big Bore 10mm @ a “box-flap” spec of 1175fps, most likely from a 5” factory test barrel fixture. If you recall, “200grns @ 1200fps” was the old Norma standard for that bullet-weight. Norma also used 5” test barrel fixtures. Below is a link to this ammo on Midway’s site. If you scroll down to the review, the guy chronographed this load @ 1191fps using a 6” KKM barrel. That would likely mean the claimed velocity of 1175fps is legit from a 5” barrel. So a good “woods” or trail-type load. Hornady did this too a couple of years back with its 180grn XTP load. Once spec-ed as a “full 10mm load” @ 1180fps from a 5” barrel, their 180grn XTP ammo is now listed @ 1275fps. While not a max load for that bullet-weight, 1275fps is definitely real 10mm territory. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1026114215?pid=932299 https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/handgun/10mm-auto-180-gr-xtp#!/ |

The date in the LabRadar file is 12/22/17, so would assume it's the older spec? |

We shot two 20-rd boxes of the new 180grn XTP/1275fps-rated just last week against a 20-rd box of the NOS load out of my stash rated @ 1180fps. (My buddy's 4.6" Gen4 G20 and my 5" Sig P220 Match Elite). In both guns the difference in felt-recoil was noticeably significant but still controllable - and actually, the new/hotter version @ 1275fps was more accurate at 15- and 25-yds than the NOS stuff. Hornady's website specifies this loads application as being for "personal defense" and hunting (medium-size game). |
