Looking for a solid, highly reliable, single stack 9mm 1911. This one has caught my eye.

Range toy that will take a beating and take it's turn on the nightstand.

High ride and ambi thumb safety are requirements but they can be added.

Don't need nor want all the go fast competition gedunk. Just a solid piece.

Direct, hands on experience appreciated.

Alternatives (single stack) in the price range, $1,500 to < $2,000 with substantiation also appreciated.

My alternative- a double stack.  Maybe all the new competitors will get staccato  prices more reasonable.  I always had a single stack nine in mind, and I went and bought a prodigy.  It was a PIA at first ,
But since I figured out the monkeys painted the rails with too much ceracoat and fixed that, 100% smooth functioning the last 1500 rounds.

That DW is probably a great choice.

I'm not a fan of 5" 9mm 1911's. Even with a lighter recoil spring they feel a little sluggish to me. I've owned Dan Wessons, Springfields, and Wilsons.

Lately, I've gotten into 2011's. I haven't touched my single stacks in quite some time.

Yes... Dan Wesson is a solid quality choice. Probably one of the best ones you can buy outside of high end semi custom makers.

The Dan Wesson Specialist in 9mm is also a great gun and comes with ambi safety.

Or for high capacity the Dan Wesson DWX.

The only negative about the DWX is if you like swapping parts around the aftermarket is not there yet.

Hope the situation improves.

The DWX is my favorite.

I like shooting both but that CZ style grip feels great in the hand.

Both are really nice guns especially at the price.

Thanks for the input. I made a deal on a DW Pointman PM-9 today.

Picked it up today. $1,200 shipped to the FFL I use for transfers.

The fit and finish is impressive.

Last year I purchased 4 different 9mm 1911s figuring I would keep probably 2 or possibly 3.
One of them was the Pointman.
Tested with a variety of ammo and reloads.
The Pointman was accurate with everything and had the best felt recoil.
It locked up tight.
Ended up keeping only the Pointman and sold the other 3 items.
You made a wise choice.

I am so impressed with the 9mm Pointman I am debating about getting the .45 version.

Very nice. I have an early pointman major in .45. Super accurate, but no matter what I’ve tried (including sending it back to DW) it still has failure to eject issues.
