Doing some research on adding dove tail mounts for a few different pistols, 1911, CZ, maybe a Taurus.

EGW seems to have a large selection of plates with different footprints and pistol choices.

Any others I should look at?

I understand getting the slides machined is maybe a better option but I prefer to go the plate route for now.

I’m looking at the EGW for my Ruger mk2, don’t think I would go that route on a center fire slide

I agree with above poster here is why though.  The plates mount the red dot much higher on the pistol that it is kind of awkward.  They are kind of a waste of money because everyone I know who went the route inevitably had their slide cut or replaced the slide with a cut slide.  The most important thing is it really sucks shooting it because of just how high it sits it kind of goes against everything we know about red dots on pistols.  Ideally you want them as low as possible and as close to the center line of the bore.

I am not going to tell you not to buy it but to answer your questions yes other brands exist.  EGW is a good brand one I would recommend but off the top of my head I am not sure of any brands you would have to do some looking.

What pistol is this going on?  Glock, HK, Sig, or _____?

In my original post above, 1911, CZ, maybe a Taurus.

They work fine on something without a moving slide and little recoil, like a Buckmark or Ruger mk2. Will put the dot lower than a rail.
But something that moves needs a better method.

I ran one on an HK P30 for about 2 years and was fine but the gun is sitting at LTT getting cut on right now.
