Just got offered a decent condition 2nd gen colt saa in .357 for $1800.  Pistol looks like it is either unfired or fired very little. Looks like 98% of the finish is there with only a few scratches and no cylinder wear line. No box or docs just the pistol.
Sound like a fair price or on the high side?

Fair price. They hold their value well.

4 3/4 do the best, 5.5 is good also. The real long ones, while they can be rarer, don't sell as well and feel front heavy and awkward. [DUH]

They made nowhere as many .38/.357 SAA's as they did .45LC. That tends to make them worth more, especially since it's still a common caliber and easy to buy. [Easier then .45LC nowadays]

Doubt you’ll find one cheaper.   I never bought into the mystique but they do hold their value.

I love shooting my Uberti 4 & 3/4" Cattleman.  I wish I had bought a Colt .357 SAA when they were $1500 and unpopular.

For a 2nd Gen in that condition, I say do it. I picked up a 3rd Gen in .357 a few years back before Covid for $1275 and I thought that was a screaming deal at the time.

Very good price.  I have a pair of 357s and have put thousands of 38s through them.

Ok, so here's an update:
I did not purchase the colt but, my oldest son did. Found out it wasn't a 1964 manufactured pistol but a 1973. After taking it down the pistol was unfired as far as I can tell. I couldn't get even the slightest hint of carbon on a q-tip and wiped it in all the nooks and crannies, LOL. If it was fired it was pulled apart completely and cleaned. Anyway,  he is in love with it and I gave him a gunbelt and drop holster rig and he was over the moon.

Hopefully he shoots it.

Nothing feels quite like a Colt and they deserve to be shot.
