I know 40SW is so Gen X and a Glock 23 is so big no logical person would try to CCW one. Well, I'm not a Zoomer GenZ, Millennial cool guy and didn't get the memo that a micro 9mm has the same damage level as a power-up plasma rifle and a 40 Short & Weak has less "stopping power" than a 22LR + more recoil than a 50BMG handgun.

Alas, I want to actually use my disgusting, embarrassing, impishly puerile G23.5 but unless I want to rock an Antonio Bandaras "Desperado" loose in the waist band carry method I need a holster.

Glock 23 Gen 1-4 holsters ... no problem.
Glock 23 Gen 5 holster ... problem.

Glock 23 Gen 5 IWB light bearing holster ... bigger problem.

This is where you come in.

I'll email because they don't list G23.5 in their AIWB light bearing menu.

Am I missing something, or is there a reason you can't use a 19 holster? Jm has tons of light bearing glock 19 holster options.

Gen 5 .40 caliber pistols are thicker than 9mm. I've heard .45 holsters will work.

Saw it wasn't listed but new gen5 20/21 are and they are wide slides.  He seems more willing to make a custom holster than most.  He recently made a holster for me and tweaked it so it would fit a couple of guns.

Here you go.  I have a ton of holsters from TR Holsters and they are great and he has molds off of actual Gen 5 .40 Glocks

He lists the G23 Gen5 and offers lots of lights in his pulldown menu.

$45 + $5 for light option.

G29 or G30 holster with a light fits Gen5 G23 perfectly.

When they make a holster for your pistol Tenicor is always the answer.  None better designed or better built.

Is the gen5 40 thicker than gen5 9mm?

The Gen 5 40's have a slide thickness that place them midway between the 9 and .45 models.  My Gen 5 40's fit a .45 holster from blade tech.

Rear of 9 and .40 gen 5

Yes.

The Gen5 40 is 0.08" thicker than Gen5 9mm.

Before people say this isn't enough to matter ... go buy a Gen5 fo-tay and then stick it in your Gen1-5 9mm holster.

Its astounding how much "weight" that tiny extra width adds to the top end of a Gen5 40SW.  When I hold my Gen 5 9mm and Gen 5 40 side-by-side the 40 feels like an unwieldy tank in comparison.

No, that little amount will mess with holsters for sure

I've posted in the PSA Dagger holster threads about this

My belief is kydex holsters made with pressure/foam will more than likely fit much larger percentage of Glocks and clones

Kydex holsters made with vacuum method are much more sensitive to itty bitty tolerance differences

I have both pressure and vacuum and while vacuum holsters have better definition, compatibility is less than ones made with pressure and foam

100% agree with your assessment.

A little heat from a blow-dryer or heat gun can loosen a vacuum kydex enough work with a Gen5 23.  To do this, I added a layer of painters tape over the gun's contact surfaces so when the cooling kydex contracts to its final shape/size it remains generous enough to allow easy HG withdraw.

I order all my holsters from Bordertown Holsters. Including my Gen5 Glock 23 holster. He has done a bunch of different color patterns for me too. Nice small business. And his shipping is super fast, I have ordered on Monday and had them by Wednesday or Thursday.
