Hey guys, was hoping to get some insight/ opinions on this older colt commander mark 4. I also am having a hard time finding magazines for it. And would like to verify this is the correct ammo . I'm not familiar with much of the pistol calibers besides 9, 45 etc

Ammo is correct. Colt has made .38 super 1911’s for a very long time.
You shouldn’t have much trouble finding magazines. A variety of manufacturers make them to this day. It’s a commander model so any full size .38 super magazine will work. Very cool that it was your Grandfather’s. Any back story to the gun? |

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately no stories attached to it. I'm assuming it was made in the 80's so not as old as many colts out there.

I have two mark IV '80 series.
Both of mine are some sweet shooting pieces. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Replace the buffer pad and put some lead down range! |

Colt has a sn# lookup on their website. Your Commander was made in 1990.
