N700000 1980 According to Smith and Wesson Catalog 4th Ed. So I’d say 1979 |

Best can do is N800000 1980-1983. Smith and Wesson Serial Numbers are hard to nail down if you’re lucky enough to get the box it came in it will have a date code on it.
Strangely N900000 are listed as 1982-1986 |

You can email s&w customer service and they will give you a date. Sometimes it's a solid date 4/1/24 other times on older stuff it might just be 1973-74.
