Just a quick how to on blackening the Holosun logos.  If you are like me and don’t like the huge billboard on the side of Holosun sights, it’s really quick and simple to blacken them.

You will need Birchwood Casey aluminum black, some acetone, paper towels, and q-tips.

Use the acetone on a q-tip to remove the red dot in the logo and degrease the area at the same time.  That red dot is just paint and comes off very easy.

Then, use a new q-tip and dab the aluminum black over the logo.  I’d coat it, wait about 30 seconds, then wipe with a wet paper towel.  Dry with a separate paper towel and then repeat.  I kept doing that until the logo was blackened.  It probably took 7-8 coats per side until I was happy with it.

Total time was about 15 minutes at most.

That’s a good idea.

Nice! I've done this with some Leopolds. Hate billboards too.

Works well.  I've done it on the BROWNELL'S giant goofy logo on their 30mm mounts.

I'm not gonna lie...that looks REALLY good.

Clean and professional looking.

Way better than my sharpie job.

Looks good, and definitely better than my attempt with a "permanent industrial" sharpie (most people don't know Sharpie makes their markers in "grades" ... even the "cannot be removed" industrial version comes right off the logo).

If you want it darker you need to prep the aluminium as it will develop an oxide layer.  Put some acetic acid on it and let it sit for a few minutes before going to the blackening agent.

Great idea!  I’ve always just panted them flat black.

Thanks OP. I did this over the weekend. I was surprised how simple it was.

Does the stuff used by OP wipe off with solvent?

Nope, it changes the actual metal.

It is a permanent chemical reaction of the metal and the compound similar to how cold blue works on steel.

it is removable.  Mr clean magic pad and acetone or even alcohol takes it right off and it does not hurt the finish of any anodized alluminum.

Is this like a “get both” declaration?

Nice job OP. It is subdued and I like it. Hate billboards also. They don't belong on guns.
