Do my eyes deceive me?

Well.

That's interesting. Very interesting.

Guess I picked a bad time to be broke.

Colt responding to the market place?  Odd, very off.

Who would have thought colt would do 5” before an 8”?
The vent spacing just seems odd on a 5”.    A bit like the vent spacing on the .22 King Cobra.

Original Python 8” guns were poor sellers compared to the other 3 lengths. A 5” gun was never a standard option for the originals. It’s a good move for Colt. Maybe a 7 or 8” later but would be surprised if they do it.

How about a real four-inch barrel and not a Canadian 4.25.

My 5” came in. Shown here with the other 4 barrel lengths.

I am a sucker for 5" revolvers and have several. But, as I already have a new 6" Python, unless they do something very special (like a DLC version --- Night Python anyone? Or a seven shooter like the 686), I will likely keep my Python count at one.

And hilariously Canada banned handguns.

But I like 4.25, little extra

If only they made a blued model. I can't stand shiny guns especially revolvers.

My 4.25” Python is home.  Scanned the barcode and it is June production.  Looks good and feels good in hand.
SA averaged 6.7 Lbs. DA 10.5.  Rear sight had drifted right, so centered it up and locked down the tiny screw to hold it in place.
Ran a few dry patches and dry fired @ 100 times.
Tomorrow the Wilson sights arrive.  I’ll take a look with down the barrel my borescope then put a few on steel.

Very happy so far.

Thanks for posting the comparison pic. The closer spacing of rib vents looks really nice on the 5 inch.

It's a shame that wasn't an option earlier as that is the length I prefer and would have bought if it was available at the time but I ended up getting a 4.25" version because 4.25" is closer to 5" then the 6" model is

But now that I already have the 4.25" I'm not really feeling the desire to go through the hassle (and take the hit $) of selling or trading my current one to go out and get the 5" and I have absolutely no desire for both so my 4.25 will have to suffice. I would still like to get the KCT 22LR in 4.25" to pair up with it.

I have a 6" and feel the same way. I have loads of 5" S&W revolvers and really like the barrel length in the L and N frame. But no way I am spending $1500 on a similar Python or going through the hassle of selling mine and buying a new 5". Very doubtful someone would trade straight across.

They are making matte stainless ones in various barrel lengths. May not be shipping yet

5 is the number of death.

I have 3 N frames with 5" barrels.
