I bought a g19mos as my spare duty pistol. It will be spending most of its time in my briefcase in the trunk of my cruiser.

My primary is a G45 with holosun 407c. I figured a lesser optic should be fine for a spare. Plus this has auto shutdown.  I don't want shake awake on a trunk gun.

I found it on clearance ( they came out with a newer model ) for $179 marked down from $249 at Dunhams. I checked ebay and bought it brand new for $82.

So far, it looks good. Maybe on par with swampfox liberty. Maybe shoot it tomorrow.

The first negative I've found is that it did not include multiple mounting screws for different setups.  While the 6-32 screws holding it to the picatinny mount are the correct pitch for MOS, they are a bit too long.  The suggestion was to go to the hardware store for correct length screws, I instead shortened the existing ones with a dremel and sanding drum.  Took a few minutes, but for the few cents screws cost, they should have been included.  For the $$ I paid, it was worth the effort, but I'd have certainly been disappointed had I paid full price.

Now the positives, It is adjustable from dark to full sunlight bright.  I prefer the manual adjustment as I've always found lag in auto adjusting optics as well as issues when shooting from a shaded area towards full sunlight.  The +/- buttons are easy to reach with my off hand thumb but will not be hit accidentally.  The 3moa dot is crisp and the glass looks good, certainly on par with my holosun.  The windage and elevation adjustments are friction resistance not definable clicks, but this shouldn't matter as it's likely to be zeroed once and left alone. This has a top mount battery, so removal is not necessary for battery changes.  CR1632 and it was not included.  Same as my 407c so I already had a ten year supply of them.

No refresh issues, bright and clear in all light of course depending on setting.  It is manual adjust.

My suppressor height Irons came in today and are installed.  Given I loaned out my pusher, I used the punch and hammer method.  The dot held up to it and did not lose zero.  I was not of course hammering on the dot, but the slide was on it's side while I was hammering on the sight.  I'm sure it took some shock.  Fired another 25rds without issue and one push up on the brightness for very bright sunlight.  No issues.  

I am still getting used to the G19.  There is something about the grip geometry that is different enough from my G45 and G43x that I am hitting centered but a few inches low.  If I take my time and go slow, the dot is right on.

Did it die on you?

So I've had this optic mounted and carried for a couple weeks.  The only real negative I can find is the 4hr shutoff feature/flaw.  Easy enough to remember to hit the button at lunch time.  That said, I can see why they phased this out in favor of shake awake.  At the price I paid, I'm not mad about it.  I also do sort of like it as this will mostly ride in a briefcase in my trunk.  A shake awake would be pretty much constant on all day.  That's fine for a gun I look at daily, less so for one that's there in case I need a spare. If however this was my primary weapon, I'd likely choose shake awake. My holosun has been flawless in this regard and the dot has never not been on by the time I can see it.

In addition, if I did draw the gun to a dead sight, I do have back up Irons.  That's what they are for.  They still work too.

My conclusion is that this is a pretty good sight for the sub $100 price tag.  On a range gun or a spare as in my case, it's a pretty good deal.

Technically it's holosun or Trijicon, on a spare personal gun, they really don't care.  One of the other range officers is carrying a Sig Romeo on his P320.  No one actually bothered to write it into policy beyond " Approval of a Range Officer ".  Being one of the range officers, I approve, for now.

Did not like the 4hr shutoff. I started carrying this gun more than I thought I would.  It's now my cqb sight on my 3x prism equipped rifle. Replaced with a holosun.

On the rifle it works pretty well.

I think it's a better use for this.  In the course of the day, I was forgetting to hit the button every 4hrs.  On a range gun, not a big deal. The optics are good, the sight seems rugged enough, but it is not the equal of a holosun or Trijicon.  I might try one of their newer models if the price is right and I decide to  get a 43x mos for my second glock of the year.
