1911 Safety Recall
Tisas USA has recently learned of a potential safety issue with certain Tisas USA 1911 pistols. Tisas USA is voluntarily initiating a recall of these pistols to protect the safety of its customers due to the possibility of the hammer following the slide forward when chambering a round. While the chance of this occurring is extremely remote, and we are not aware of any injuries that have occurred because of this condition, Tisas USA is immediately implementing this recall of Tisas USA 1911 pistols. Tisas USA will upgrade any affected pistols in the order in which it is received for inspection and upgrade pursuant to this recall. Tisas USA will supply affected customers with a return shipping label and will cover any expenses related to the inspection and upgrade of the subject firearms. 1911 Duty B45DG (Raider) SKU 10100505/UPC 723551442852 1911 Nightstalker 45 SKU 10100512/UPC 723551443293 1911 Nightstalker 10MM SKU 10100537/UPC 723552444283 1911 Duty Enhanced SKU 10100505/ UPC 723551442852 1911 REPUBLIC OF TEXAS 45 SKU 10100514/UPC 723551442821 |

Enhanced and Raider shipped to SDS on 2/5/24. Returned today. Work order indicates a trigger "upgrade" Feels nice. Time will tell I guess.
They also returned with a new Checkmate magazine. Thumbs up for that. |

Just to be sure, you guys that did send your Tisas back using the prepaid label they sent you, did UPS give any problem when you dropped it off?
I’m dropping mine off at a UPS distribution hub tomorrow morning. Going to try to sync my trip to UPS to coincide with them moving the USS NJ to dry dock on the Delaware River. |

I sent 3 of mine back a month or so ago and haven't heard anything...

Honestly, I don't think I'll be sending mine in. It functions fine.

My Raider came back today around the 5-week mark. I was out of the country for one of those weeks and had requested they not ship it while I was gone so maybe it would have come back sooner otherwise.
Trigger pull doesn't seem any different to me but I am not a connoisseur of 1911 triggers. They did include a Mec-gar mag, which was nice. Good experience overall with their service! |

Well, crap. I've got one sitting here for a customer, now I have to call & find out if it's been fixed yet.

I’m at about 5 weeks now.
No info from them yet. I sent a follow up email and left a phone message but no reply. I’m sure they’re probably pretty busy with things but hearing people get theirs back so soon and Tisas saying on their FB page a 2-3 week turnaround has me kinda sad I don’t have it back yet. I haven’t even shot it and it’s been gone for longer than I’ve had it in my house. Lolz Oh well, here’s to wishful thinking! |

Maybe a dumb question but when you have to send a gun back to the manufacturer for warranty work, I assume you get it back via them shipping it to your FFL. Does the FFL then charge you another "transfer fee"?
...Or can the manufacturer ship the repaired firearm straight to your house? |
|
|
It's not a transfer of ownership. The manufacturer is allowed to receive and return items for repair work without going through your FFL or filing forms, assuming they are already in your possession.

I heard from Tisas - my customer's gun had already been worked over, as evidenced by the green sticker on the box.

Finally received an email back after me emailing them 2x and calling once.
I was told the repair is done and it will be ready to be shipped next week?! Why all the time for shipping? It was received on 2/20. I mean, I get that this was a big recall… but after hearing people getting them back fast and Tisas themselves recently posted on Facebook a 2-3 week turn around I’m just kinda disappointed in the whole process. Oh well… I mean there’s nothing I can really do about it other than come in here and bitch I guess! |

Mine took ~5 weeks, and that's what everyone's saying as well.

I sent mine in less than 2 weeks ago, not so much worried about how long it will take.
What I would like to know is when they ship it back do they give you a heads up that it’s on the way so you can look out for it? Any chance they give a return tracking number so I can track its return so I know? |

Why would the 1911 Duty Enhanced be recalled, but a Duty is not? Do they have different triggers? |

Whelp,
Got mine back today. 2 months from the day I sent it in. They included a free mag. Papers say trigger upgrade; feels about the same to me dry firing it. Meh… |
|
|
Got mine back after about a month. Don’t really see or feel that anything was done except looks like a titanium firing pin installed.
Trigger feels the same as before I sent it in. There was a cosmetic flaw that just needs a pass or 2 with a file I’d hoped they would clean up for me but didn’t, no big deal, do it myself next time I have it apart. Only downside was no notification it was return shipped so the first attempt at delivery was missed since adult signature required. I had it held at the UPS hub and picked it up a couple days later. Bonus free magazine was included. |
