I was rummaging around in the safe and ran across the last Beretta 8045F I bought. I’d actually forgotten about it so I decided to put a few magazines through it today. Man, forgot how much I enjoyed them. I also have a low mileage 8045F Cat Pack from years back. But for now I might take my shooter 8045 to the range more and maybe carry it.

Who else likes Beretta Cougars?

Pardon the potato picture.

I like mine. It is a 1965 M1934 Cougar .380.

I always liked them, and the Stoeger version.  Just thought they had too high a sticker, or I would've bought one (or the other).

Miles better than the Px4, IMO.

I have a Stoeger in 9mm, my second actually.  I like it.  Shoots well, fits my hand nicely.  Only complaint is they don't take 92 mags.

Italian 8040 Cougar reporting in.

Accurate and soft shooting.

The one pistol in .40 that I’m keeping.

I'd love one in 45.

Like most things Beretta, they’re a good looking pistol.  One of the few .45 options from Beretta aside from the Px4 which shares the rotating barrel design.

With the current glut of Turkish guns, I’d love to see the Stoeger version come back but it seems they’re too hung up on their me-too plastic-fantastik STR-9.  You’d think the retro design would be a better marketing choice but the striker-clone is probably pennies on the dollar to manufacture.

I don’t want to pay collector prices on the secondary market.

Prices on GB for the most part are pretty reasonable.  Selection can be spotty but they're out there.

I’d like to have a few, but went with the PX4 because LTT and parts support. But eventually I’ll get one, just because.

I have a full sized .40 and mini-40 I snagged for lunch money.
I could give or take those sizes/variants in any of the calibers.

But the L?
Damn, I’d only they made a 92 that same size, -
It’s a fantastic carry gun.

I snagged an 8040F Cougar a couple years ago from a buddy.   Lusted after it for years until he finally decided to sell it.

The factory finish was looking rough and had chipped off in several places.    I had it Ceracoated and installed some new Hogue laminated grips.    Looks awesome now.    I'll try to post a pic if I can figure it out from my phone.

Off the top of my head it was ordered from Rand or R&R when they still made Cougar holsters ten years ago or so.

I think they would have fared better if it wasn't for poor timing and the incompatibility of using 92 mags. With that said, I had a 9mm Cougar when they first came out and the gun, while kind of ugly and not as appealing as the 92 series, it ran like a top and performed excellently. I only sold it as higher capacity mags were not available and found out about cutting a notch in a 92 mag. afterwards. The Stoeger guns are quite nice as well but the finish is not the same as the Beretta's.

I am the proud owner of 2 Stoeger Cougars in 9mm .
Love the platform,  hate that magazines are difficult to find and expensive.
I have parts kit in .40 cal too , just for parts if I need them.
