I asked HiramRanger and he said no.  I am still thinking about it.  I would say 60/40 yes at this point.

I should be there, barring some unforseen catastrophy or detail.  I'm off weekends now.

John (Ronin45) should be there also, so get your ammo/mag orders in.

I need some help to determine what I can (legally)bring in from NJ for the shoot.

1. Post ban AR;
2. Post ban M1A and
3. 1911

Also, does anyone know some good sources for .308 ammo for the M1A?

Thanks,

Mike

Any of the rifles are fine, just leave the 1911 at home.. :)

Edited to add..

I just bought some South African from AIM surplus, $19 per battle pack (140) rounds. You have to buy a certain number for that 8 or 9 packs I think, else wise it's $19.95.

Email John (Ronin45) for a quote for .308.  I bet he'll knock your socks off.  Best part is you don't have to worry about overlaoding your shocks.  He'll bring it in since we'll be going anyways.

Anyone who hasn't delt with John yet.  I dare you to email him with your best prices.  I'll bet you he can beat anyone's price in the game.

He doesn't have South African, least not the last time I saw him. Are you saying he has it now?

We were looking at the Aussie .308 at the Middletown Show, and he said that he would look in to it and see if he could get it.  It is just as good if not better.  Drop him an email.  Barring unforseen circumstances, I will see you all on the 28th.

I have that Aussie stuff and would certainly buy more of it, if john had it. I had been using port but I won't buy any more of it as it's steel jacketed.

At the Middletown Show, the Aussie was $39 a can.  There was no Port and the SA was way too expensive in both .223 and .308.

Need directions from south, south jersey.

Thanks

Page two has directions from the George Washington Bridge.  You could take the Outter bridge crossing through Statan Island, over the Verrenzano to the Belt, but like I said (also on page two), I wouldn't send my worst enemy via the Belt Parkway.

I hope the rain forcasted for late Saturday doesn't throw a wrench into the works

So is it supposed to rain or what? And if it does are they still open has anyone ever gone there in bad weather? My wifes away and I'm going anyway!!!!!!!

OK, read directions and looked at maps...  Can someone confirm these for me?

Coming from central Jersey -

NJ Turnpike to GWB to 95/Cross Bronx to 678 South across Whitestone Bridge to 495/LIE east to exit 71, right at stop sign, look for range sign on right.

The directions I saw above said to leave 678 for the Cross Island Parkway instead of just going straight to 495.  Any reason why?

Thanks

I can't confirm directions, but as far as shooting in the rain, I'm not a big fan of rusty guns, but I would still like to get together.  Is anyone opposed to meeting even if there isn't weather that permits a shoot?

I think we'll leave it for the night before to call off IF we decide to call it off.  The weatherman has been wrong about our shoots before!  Plus, they call for afternoon showers, so if we're out of there by 1pm, its no big deal.  We can bring the party to the local pub/restaurant, right?

i think we should wait til sat to call it off.  Say 9pm?

Also bring your shotguns.  Frank and I have throwers and i think frank has about 20 cases of shells taking up space in his house

Well, glad to see someone remembers me.....

Sorry to say fellows. that, as I warned previously, I am unable to make it. Sorry.

I guess the next time we all meet will be either at Gunstock or afters.

However, Bikes4Tykes (finally incorporated this year) "SHOULD" be having another Rifle Raffle this season....I'll have to ask the prinicipals, but maybe we can combine the drawing with B&J's Grand Reopening and a Halloween Gathering in late October? Lorie and I will be moving between Gunstock and Nov 1, but's it's a short local hop and we should be able to break away for a weekend....what do you guys think about it?

ANd enjoy the shoot tomorrow, I'll be with you in spirit.

Calverton didn't open until between 9:30 and 10 yesterday, soething about insurance meeting (maybe the KB!?)  Hit it off with the lone range officer, we had both been in Lawton, OK about 30 years ago it turned out.  After 3 of us did clays, then pistols, I was about to ask about bringing a barbecue and shooting a mannequin, but 2 or 3 guys to our right with "Brooklyn" T-shirts, pissed the RO off with fairly rapid fire from, yep, several EBGs.  I wear plugs and muffs, so hardly heard it, but guys to my LEFT said it was annoying.  Anyway, it seemed to put him in the wrong mood so I chickened out.  Sorry.
Anyway, bring your own TP if you didn't leave your "morning constituional" behind.  Couple of the 100 yard points are nothing more than two naked stakes as well.  same-ol, same-ol

Have all morning free to shoot, may be able to get out for the rain alternate brunch/lunch, the eariler the better.

What time does JR's open?

There's soon to be a JR's in Calverton 5 min from the range.(for future reference)

Now if they'd just put a Hooters out here.

Edited to add....here it comes....
