Hey yinz guys. I used to run the Pittsburgh area meet ups (Still do actually) and after a recent thread, thought Id get something started in my new hometown area. I found meeting local members was a great way to make some friends and put names to faces for those we see here often.

Now... I dont know the area yet, thus dont know a great place to do a meet up. Im open to suggestions as well as figuring out a date that best fits as many members schedules as possible.

I know its a few months out, but Ill definitely be at the East Coast Night Shoot Nov 12 in Garrettsville. If you visit the link, in pic on the websites homepage has me and a few other arfcommers from a local Pittsburgh night shoot.

So sound off if you are in the area and willing to meet up. Or just to stop in a shoot the shit

Welcome friends!

I'm flexible on whatever. I do love breakfast.

I'll sit around a barrel burning leaves. Not picky. Will meet.

It won’t be for a year or so, but once I get my range and barn built, I’d be interested to hold a small local shoot.  My house won’t be done for probably 2 years though.

Actually, we could. The main causeway could make a great range these days. Just need to bring a weedwhacker to clear the brush growing up through the pavement.

So sad. I spend a lot of time there in the 70s until I could drive in the early 80's. (I'm a south side guy.) And it was in the largest natural city park in the USA. Youngstown was a great place back then.

More Idora from May. You'll probably recognize the stone walkway/steps.

Cool.

I know you were packing down in that area!

I did that back around 1990. Even back then and only 6 or 7 years after it closed the place looked like a scene from the movie "The Day After". But there were still some buildings up and the Wildcat was still up (ranked in the top 10 wooden rollercoasters in the USA at one time).

Columbiana Co here.

My dad's company (steel mill over in Beaver Falls, later Ambridge) used to have their company picnic at Idora Park in the 70's and early 80's.

Good times.

Did Canfield fair for nearly 50 years; as a child and later with my children although probably never again.

Oh, I will certainly need a number of people to help me test my sporting clays course.

I want to build some pretty cool thrower houses. But I’ll need to make them semi permanent. Thus I’ll need to trial and error thrower areas and difficulty.  I want to make it fairly newbie friendly with a few tough shots.

Warren in Trumbull County has some good eats, @Laxman09.

Sunrise Inn for Italian
Cockeyes for BBQ
Mocha House for Breakfast
Buena Vista for Greek Fried Garlic Chicken

Jack’s Nest Egg is a fine breakfast dining experience in itself.

Ha! Not that old...Parents took me there starting in the early 1970s. My dad was an old friend of the owner.

True unfortunately. Richie Alberini's son Chookie took over after his dad passed and I think he became ill as well.

The last time I was at Aloha was around the late 1980s. I had the the whitest and most tender chicken I ever ate. The next day on the news, they reported that health inspectors found 14 skinned cats in the kitchen!

Omg.  The same thing happened to us but at the Chinese place that used to be in the old (new) Flamingo Restaurant on the Warren side of 422.  There was a write up in the Tribune mentioning several health food violations along with “suspicious meat”.  When they went back to take samples of the meat it was gone.

We ate there a lot for lunch.

Well Im glad the Canfield Fair shooting could bring us all together

Here is my thought, bc Im a NV guy. Ill bet at the East Coast Night Shoot Nov 12 in Garrettsville.

Thats not for two more months and my wife said I need to make friends .  I liked the idea of a breakfast meet up, because I like to eat breakfast.

My thought, lets pick a place for sat Sept 24? Doesnt interfere with archery season. Gives everyone a few weeks to make excuses to not come or practice their social skills.

Thoughts?

Can't remember what old timer it was, but I remember being told ya had to be out of the Appalachian foot hills to be midwest.  Having grown up 20-30 min from the PA line, most people here think anything west of 71 is a different state.

I've been to the Garrettsville facility a few times but not for any of the shooting events yet.

9/24 is no Bueno, but I'll keep watching in case another date comes up.
