I recently came into possession of an Egyptian FN49, and now im in love with the design. Id like to find one for around $1000-$1500. Anyone know a good gun show where i could stumble across one?

DSM Fairgrounds or Cedar Rapids Hawkeye Downs is your best bet.  Won't be an easy find.  You may have to go on line for that one.

What part of the state are you in?  Some of the smaller shows can be quite good.

There's one on Gunbroker.  They show up over there from time to time, expect to pay $2k or better.

Ive seen one on Falfiles go for $1400, however the wood was kinda beat up. But your right, if I really want a nice i should expect to pay that much

The Fort Dodge gun club does a show in February.  That one attracts a different crowd, more of a collector show.  Sioux City has a show, never been to it and the dealers tell me it's nothing special.  Mason City puts on a show once a year, it can be decent.

One of better, if not best, surplus firearms dealers in Iowa, is this guy.  Occasionally, he'll get FN49s.

Barry Bowers

BTW, what town in Palo Alto county?  I'm originally from Mallard (Class of 1976)

Buy a lot of stuff from Barry.  Almost every show.  Works most of the bigger shows in Iowa.

Id rather not say where online, but I know Barry pretty well. Unfortunately, he said he didn't have any luxembourg fn49s. He did say that they were worth around $1000-$1500, which i feel is a little off the mark considering how rare they are. That being said hes a great guy, in fact i bought my first rifle from him.
