I've been curious. It seems like the majority are from somewhere else, and that's just the Americans. Poll to follow. I myself started out as a Palestinian.

Before moving to Texas and fighting alongside Jim Bowie in the Battle of Nacogdoches (and later becoming a county sheriff), my great great great something grandfather fought in the war of 1812 at the Battle of Lundy's Lane as a Captain. for the British shhh |

Texas by way of Pennsylvania by way of Oklahoma by way of Alaska by way of Texas by way of a different part of Texas by way of the Oklahoma panhandle, where I was born under a tornado. All Texas since 10 y.o., so I suppose I might be from Oklahoma, but I really don't remember, and call Texas my home.

Moved here from North Carolina (I'm a Southerner) in 2010. I experienced my first single digit temperatures that winter, thanks for that Not only were my Family members not living in Texas in 1900, They weren't even in this country (my mother's side, no clue on the other half). |

My family settled in what was to become Texas in the 1820s. |

I don’t know the # of generations but my folks came over from Germany in 1845, landed in Galveston, made their way to Llano county and we’re a founding family of Castell Texas.
One of the brothers original rock house is still there on one of the sections of land right by the Llano river, it was a “bed & breakfast” last I looked. |

For those native Texans that don't know about it, you can order an Official Native Texan birth certificate from the state: Native Texan Birth Certificate
The wife got one for me for my birthday a few years back (when Rick Perry was still Governor). I'm kinda surprised they aren't like a yard tall and two feet wide just because Texas. |

My family got off the boat in Galveston and Corpus in the 1890's from Czechoslovakia and we haven't lived anywhere else.
I'm kind of bummed, because if I had one direct ancestor who migrated after 1916, I could apply for Czech citizenship. But yeah, I have a couple of events coming up where I need to dress up a bit and wear a jacket, and I always wear a baseball cap. Felt I might be stretching it, picked up a new dress straw hat this morning. Haven't worn one since college. |

Family has been in Texas since settling with SFA on my mother's side and from the late 1850s on my dad's side.
My wife gets mad at me when I ask my son what "us Texans" are going to do on the weekend since her and my two step-daughters where born in lesser states. Wife is from California The two step kids were born in ND and Japan. |

I think we're all indebted to Buckshot Jim Johnson for stating what needed to be said. I'm particularly glad that these lovely arfcom children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic General Discussion gibberish, it expressed a courage not seen in this day and age. |

I was born in the great state of Alabama but been in Texas since 2005. I’m sure I’ll die here, my wife won’t let me leave. Her family can trace themselves back to the 1830’s in Texas and are descendants of Sam Houston.

Born and raised here. I’m not sure if I’m fourth or fifth generation.
Interestingly, both of my grandmothers were born in the continental US but not a state. They were born in Oklahoma Territory. |

Was born here, barely. Dad was changing duty stations from west coast to east coast. Mom flew out of San Francisco w/ a doctor's note and I was born a Texan about 36 hrs later. Between San Francisco, the airplane, or the Pan Handle, I got the better end of the deal. Didn't live in Texas until the folks moved back stateside so I could go to HS. Moved away myself and didn't return until my 30s. Stuck here now.
