I guess this happened last year, but I did not find out until a couple of weeks ago.

Bottom line.

You can reduce the following from your income.

2022 you can deduct $10,000 from military retirement pay

2023 you can deduct $20,000

2024 until 2026 you can deduct $30,000

If you did not take the exemption for 2022 tax year, you can always amend your return.
